Sakamoto Days Anime Leaves Out Key Manga Details

There is a lot of buzz surrounding Sakamoto Days anime. The immensely popular manga was adapted into an anime and premiered on January 11, 2025. Fans found the story about the ‘Greatest Hitman of all time’ quite captivating. The expectations doubled when everyone got to know that Netflix would be producing the anime.

Sakamoto Days episode 1 received quite the praise from the viewers, and the action sequences made the fans jump out of their seats. However, the manga readers were not convinced by the anime adaptation. They found that the anime had made major changes to the initial plot of Yuto Suzuki’s magnum opus. The changes involved skipping several scenes.

Bus Hijacking Scene

The anime watchers will love what Sakamoto Days anime is showing them, but the manga readers are disappointed with it. Instead of following each chapter thoroughly, the anime skipped several scenes. There is a scene that involves Aoi Sakamoto traveling on a bus, and some thugs take over the bus. Taro Sakamoto and Shin chase down the bus and defeat all the thugs, saving all the passengers. The anime skipped this scene.

Police Officer Nakase Kidnapping

Then, there is the kidnapping of Police Officer Nakase. A group of thugs kidnap her and try to have their way around her. But the former assassin duo arrives at the spot and saves her. This particular scene also included Taro Sakamoto’s first slim transformation. Unfortunately, Netflix did not include it.

Lu Xiaotang’s Dress Swap

Another scene that caught people’s eyes was Lu Xiaotang’s clothes. She made her anime debut in episode 2 of Sakamoto Days. In the manga, her attire resembled a Chinese triad during her debut. However, in the anime, they gave her a more Westernized look. On top of everything, the anime completely overlooked chapters 2 and 3 from the manga. All these changes were more than enough to disappoint the fans who were eagerly waiting for the anime.

Sakamoto Days Anime Could Bring Back The Skipped Details

In just a few episodes, Sakamoto Days has skipped a significant portion of the manga, leaving fans disappointed that some details were not included. However, there is a specific way for Netflix to bring back those scenes: they could include them as filler episodes as the anime progresses. For example, the bus hijacking scene and the kidnapping of Nakase could be featured later on. Unfortunately, fans won’t get to see Lu Xiaotang in her original outfit. While some mistakes can be rectified, others cannot be changed.
