The nostalgic factor was always there with Dragon Ball DAIMA since it is the last work of the late great Akira Toriyama. After almost seven years, the franchise returned with a new anime, and for the first time, the Z Warriors traveled to the Demon Realm. After the Z Warriors were turned into children, they went to the Demon Realm to revert the Curse and find the individual behind the doing.

They found out that it was Gomah and Degesuโ€™s doing, with both of them planning to become the Supreme King of the Demon Realm. After much struggle, the Z Warriors finally got to face Gomah. The antagonist used the Tertian Oculus to gain a massive power surge that pushed the heroes to their limits. However, everything concluded with episode 20, and it is fair to say the episode is something that the old fans grew up watching.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Brought Back The Original Dragon Ball Elements

Dragon Ball DAIMA episode 20 was released on Friday, February 28, 2025. For several countries, the episode was released on March 1, 2025, which marked the death anniversary of Akira Toriyama. A lot was riding on this episode since this was going to be Akira Toriyamaโ€™s last work. Unlike the other popular antagonists of the Dragon Ball franchise, Dragon Ball DAIMA had somewhat a childish antagonist. Gomah is an evil genius, but in no way he can match the Son Goku or Vegeta.

The use of the Tertian Oculus raised several questions, but the Toriyama-style ending made everyone forget every flaw of the series and focus on what they had been missing for years. Dragon Ball Super was a great piece of fiction, but a little touch of comedy was missing at every step. However, DAIMA corrected the mistake and put on a show for the original Dragon Ball fans.

Fans remember Goku undressing while fighting Tien during the Martial Arts tournament or the old toilet jokes from the original Dragon Ball series. DAIMA brought back the same thing, and it was duly understandable that Akira Toriyama put his heart into it. While the final fight was full of tension, it was written in such a manner that the audience always had a smile on their faces. Be it an inside joke or an iconic scene.

An Unexpected Ending Left Everyone Laughing

Gomah was proving to be an inevitable foe, but Son Gokuโ€™s Super Saiyan 4 transformation still kept the hopes of victory alive. After a great duel, Son Goku delivered arguably one of the most devastating Kamehameha ever, which made a hole through Gomah and the Demon World. However, neither Goku nor Piccolo lands the final blow on Gomah. Unexpectedly, Majin Kuu was the one to take out the Tertian Oculus from Gomah’s forehead.

It was such a Toriyama-esque script that the fans were more focused on enjoying the circumstances rather than questioning. The final blow not only ended Gomahโ€™s reign but also helped Majin Kuu become the next Demon King. With Marba, Neva, Dr. Arinsu, Glorio, Majin Duu, and King Kadan, the Supreme Demon King bid the heroes goodbye as they returned to Earth.

However, before the episode ended, it was shown that there were two other Tertian Oculus still left at the Medi-Bug store. Even after the end, there lies the question of whether it truly concluded. The Z-Warriors put their life on the line to stop Gomah, only to find that someone like Gomah could rise to power in the future. While the heroes were shocked, the fans were having a jolly good time laughing.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Is Everything The Fans Ever Wished For

Late great Akira Toriyama fulfilled every wish of the fans with his last work, Dragon Ball DAIMA. He brought back the Dragon Ball franchise, which is a mixture of fights and comedy. The ending left the fans laughing their hearts out, especially after Vegetaโ€™s dirty secret was out, Majin Kuuโ€™s unexpected victory, and Son Goku using his old stick again. The nostalgia was oozing out from every episode of the series.

On top of everything, the Demon Realm was explored after Demons made their debut almost three decades ago. Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta have found their way to be canon after being a part of non-canon stories and fan theories. While the fans are pretty happy, the happiest of all is Bulma, who has found a way to look ten years younger with the help of Beaut Bugs.
