Tsuyoshi Takaki’s latest manga, Heart Gear, concluded in June 2024. While Heart Gear became quite popular, Black Torch gave him his break, and now it will be his first work to be animated. Viz Media announced that Tsuyoshi Takaki’s Black Torch manga will soon be adapted into an anime.
It rose to popularity shortly after it began its serialization. Even though the manga did not run for long, it etched its name on the hearts of the fans. Previously, Jiro Azuma was bound to book pages, but now, anime lovers will get to witness him along with the world created by Tsuyoshi Takaki. However, the most exciting part of the upcoming anime is its plot, which creates a thrilling blend of Yokai in the ninja world.
Black Torch Synopsis
Black Torch brings a whole new meaning to creativity, with the protagonist, Jiro Azuma, joining the battle against Mononoke while being trained in the shinobi arts. The protagonist was often bullied and found solace in talking with animals. One day, he came across an injured cat named Rago of the Black Star of Doom.
However, it was not a cat but an immortal evil spirit, hunted by other Mononoke. The same night, Jiro was killed by one of the Mononoke who attacked Rago. In a last-ditch attempt to save Jiro’s life, Rago fuses with him and kills the Yokai. The Bureau of Espionage took them into custody for the event, and later, they became their part to hunt down more evil spirits.
When did Black Torch begin?
While the anime has yet to have a specific release date, it has been several years since the manga concluded. Shueisha began the serialization of Black Torch on December 31, 2016, with the last chapter released on July 11, 2018. There are 19 chapters of Black Torch, and it has been collected in five Tankobon volumes. Only the first volume has three chapters, with the rest of them having four chapters each.
