Dan Da Dan Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2025 and will feature the Evil Eye as the antagonist. The trailers for the upcoming season featured the antagonist fighting against Turbo Granny, and it is fair to say the former had a better grip. While it has been established that the Evil Eye is something that science cannot identify, its origin remains unknown to many. Who is the Evil Eye, how it came about, what are his abilities, etc., are a few of the questions that the fandom has been asking. Here is a detailed story of the Evil Eye and its secrets.

The Origin Of The Evil Eye
Yukinobu Tatsu’s magnum opus revolves around cursed spirits and aliens. Sometimes, he implements a bit of Japanese urban legends into Dan Da Dan to make it more approachable. One such implementation is the Evil Eye, based on the urban legend of “Jagan.” Following the story of Jagan, Yukinobu Tatsu introduced the Evil Eye through a boy chosen to be sacrificed by the Kito Family. Since he was to be sacrificed, he was imprisoned and left malnourished.
He desired to play with the children outside, but before it happened, he was sacrificed for the Tsuchinoko. Several years passed, and the boy descended on Earth as a spirit. He went to the same place where he was confined and saw the present-day Kito Family having dinner. Kito family’s son could see the spirit, and even though he was afraid at first, he interacted with it by dancing.
Unfortunately, the Kito Family still followed the sacrificial rule, and the couple hanged themselves, with the son getting sacrificed. The spirit tried his best to save the son but failed since he did not have a physical body. Enraged by the Kito Family, the spirit swore vengeance on the family and became the Evil Eye. As time passed, the rage and hatred towards the family shifted to all of humanity.
What Powers Do The Evil Eye Possess?
The Evil Eye is one of the strongest spirits in Dan Da Dan, with almost limitless potential. The spirit possesses superhuman strength and durability, and is unfazed by Turbo Granny possessing Okarun and Momo with ease. Evil Eye’s toxic aura often erodes the surroundings, with the pressure of his rage causing massive destruction. He can combine all the grudges within him, give it the shape of a ball, and attack others with it.
The eye on his forehead can shoot cursed laser beams that can slice through anything, and the eye can also manipulate or paralyze individuals weaker than him when making direct contact. Lastly, the Evil Eye is shown to possess the ability of resurrection since he was able to resurrect, even after being defeated or purified. On top of that, he becomes more potent and takes a grotesque form upon resurrection.
What Personality Does The Evil Eye Possess?
When he was a human, the Evil Eye had a playful nature and was kind-hearted. Even though he was imprisoned, he never bore any ill feelings towards others. After witnessing the trauma of the Kito Family’s sacrificial ritual, he became evil, with all the rage and hatred within him consuming him. However, the Evil Eye is still a child and has retained its playful nature.
Unfortunately, the playful nature has transformed from just playing or doing shenanigans to murdering humans. Belonging to the spirit realm, he was pretty disappointed with Turbo Granny after the latter tried to save Momo Ayase, as she was a human. The Evil Eye might be evil, but it represents trauma, pain, negligence, and tragedy, all trapped within darkness.
