For a long time, Dr. Vegapunk has been a legend in One Piece. Fans heard about him but never saw him on the screen until the Egghead Arc premiered. It was during this arc that people were finally introduced to the Albert Einstein of One Piece, Dr. Vegapunk.
The greatest scientific mind is an old man with his tongue out, white hair, and an elongated brain. While he seemed to be โjustโ a scientist, there are several things about him that make him more special than he already is. Starting with his hometown, his adventures, and ultimately working for the World Government, Dr. Vegapunk has experienced a great deal in his lifetime.

The Origin of Dr. Vegapunk
Dr. Vegapunk was born on Karakuri Island, the place where Franky spent two years during the time skip. From a young age, Vegapunk was considered a prodigy, possessing an intellect that people could only dream of. His hunger for knowledge led him to do research about the Void Century and the Ancient Kingdom. He even formed a research group named MADS, consisting of Vinsmoke Judge, Queen, Buckingham Stussy, Caesar Clown, and Lu Feld. Unfortunately, his lack of resources has always been a reason why he could not fulfill most of his desires.
What Are Dr. Vegapunkโs Abilities?
Dr. Vegapunk consumed the Nomi Nomi no Mi, a paramecia-type Devil Fruit, which allows him to store an infinite amount of information and memories in his brain. However, as the amount of information increases, his brain gets bigger. Thanks to his photogenic memory and informative brain, he has created several handy inventions, making the Egghead Island, a scientific haven. At some point, his brain grew exceptionally large, and he had to externalize his brain according to six different character traits. They are:

Dr. Vegapunk And His Hunger For Knowledge
Dr. Vegapunk has always been fascinated by gathering information, and as a result, often participated in illicit research. He was a part of Ohara, alongside Clover and Monkey D. Dragon, when they were researching the Void Century. He met these people since he shared the same objective about the World Government. While he aims to create a better world with the help of science, the World Government has often used his scientific knowledge to cause destruction.
The scientist created a powerful weapon using the Mother Flame, which Imu used to destroy the Lulusia Kingdom. Then, there was the incident with Bartholomew Kuma, where he turned him into a Pacifista and further created other variants based on the experiments. Sea Prism Stone usage, Seraphims, replication of Devil Fruits, etc., are a few of his works.

Is Dr. Vegapunk Evil?
No, Dr. Vegapunk is not evil but a complex character who has been a victim of conflict between science and morality. For a long, he followed science, even though his conscious was against it, but after the World Government sent the CP0 to kill him, Dr. Vegapunk has finally snapped and is looking to undo his evil doings in one go. The World Government wants him dead because of the secrets he knows about their work and Void Century.
However, the scientist also has a few weapons in his arsenal. Even if it means dying, he will reveal the entire truth about Void Century and the Ancient Kingdom to the world, letting them know about the evil deeds of the World Government. With Dr. Vegapunkโs life put on the line, it is clear that he is one of the individuals who can change the power dynamics of the world, cause the spark of the Final War, and instill fear within the Gorosei and Imu.
