It does not end there, as there are several global celebrities who follow anime regularly and love it to the core.
These celebrities have mentioned their favorite anime in interviews without shying away. To take it a step further, there are times when they even cosplayed as anime characters to showcase their love for the industry. The trend soon became viral as celebrities who are unfamiliar with anime also ended up doing anime cosplays. They always put great attention to detail to make the cosplays stand out from the rest. Here is a list of globally influential figures who cosplayed as anime characters and left the world amazed.
1. Megan Thee Stallion
Popular rapper and singer-songwriter Megan Thee Stallion is a massive anime enthusiast. She has openly talked about being an otaku and was a presenter during the 2024 Crunchyroll Awards. Apart from her career as a musician, Megan Thee Stallion has earned a name for herself by cosplaying anime characters. She regularly cosplays anime characters and posts them on her social media handles.
One of the standout cosplays that she did was of My Hero Academiaโs Shoto Todoroki. She wore a customized blue body suit with anime-accurate hair and makeup. The hair was white on one side and red on the other. She even painted the surroundings of her left eye to match Todorokiโs scar. It was an inch-perfect cosplay, and it made her look like a live-action Shoto Todorki.

2. Suga (Min Yoon-gi)
Suga is one of the top-tier K-Pop celebrities and a member of the worldwide famous music band, BTS. He spoke about his love for the anime industry and is quite familiar with Naruto. During 2014 Halloween, the K-Pop star dressed up as Naruto Shippuden, in what seemed to be a perfect cosplay. He wore the exact orange and black jacket, with the headband, and even drew whiskers on his cheeks. To make it look more authentic, he even posed in the famous Shadow Clone Jutsu pose from the series. Soon after the photography session, he posted the pictures online, and they went viral.

3. Machine Gun Kelly
Machine Gun Kelly is a popular rapper and singer. He is also a somewhat fashion icon and often sets the stage on fire with his attire. While he wore the anime-inspired outfit on a few occasions, none came close to his Ryuk cosplay from 2022 Halloween. He painted his face white, marked his lips black, wore a modified bodysuit, black pants to resemble Ryuk’s legs, etc., to make himself look like the character. Also, unlike Michael B. Jordan and Megan Thee Stallion, Machine Gun Kelly has never revealed anything about being an anime enthusiast.

4. Jungkook (Jeon Jung-kook)
Jungkook is another popular global icon, also belonging to the K-pop music band, BTS. He is often regarded as one of the most handsome men on the planet. Like Suga, Jungkook also cosplayed a popular anime character during the 2014 Halloween. He cosplayed as Conan Edogawa from the popular detective anime, Detective Conan. He wore the blue coat, white shirt underneath, the red bow tie, and most importantly, the glasses. Jungkook even changed his hairstyle to make it look like the character. Everything about the cosplay was perfect. Only if he were a little short, he would have become the perfect live-action Conan.

5. RM (Kim Nam-joon)
Another singer from BTS, RM, makes the list with a shocking, yet beautiful, anime cosplay. The BTS are all familiar with the anime industry, including RM. During the 2020 BTS Festa, RM surprised his fans by cosplaying as a Sailor Scout from the popular 90s anime, Sailor Moon. While a Sailor Scout happened to be a female in the anime, no one could question RM’s choice. He gracefully carried himself in that cosplay. The blonde hair, white shirt, blue skirt, and the red bow tie, everything required for the cosplay, were present. Due to RM’s efforts, it remains one of BTS’s best cosplays.

6. Olivia Munn
When it comes to anime cosplay, Sailor Moon is one of the most sought-after characters. After Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton, Olivia Munn also went for the Sailor Moon cosplay. The Hollywood actress’s cosplay included a red bow, white gloves, a blue skirt, and a white body suit. The cosplay was well-done, with Olivia Munn being careful about the details and also making it fashionable. She has not mentioned anything about being an anime fan, but she seems to have become a popular face in cosplay with her pop culture references.

7. Doyoung (Kim Dong-young)
Doyoung is a popular singer from the South Korean music band NCT. Like Megan Thee Stallion, he also likes watching anime and has mentioned that he likes manga too. One of his favorite characters is Red-Haired Shanks from One Piece. He is so fond of the character that he perfected the Shanks cosplay during the 2021 Halloween. He wore the white shirt, the black cloak, carried a sword on his right side, and matching trousers as the character. Doyoung also implemented the “Red-Hair” by dyeing his hair red and creating the scar sign around his eyes. However, the standout feature of his cosplay remains his left hand, which was missing just like the original character.

8. Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton is one of the OG fashion queens in Hollywood who recently developed a keen affinity towards anime culture. She entirely transformed herself into Sailor Moon during the 2021 Halloween, with a white bodysuit, blue skirt, gloves, and long blonde pigtails, along with a tiara and red boots. The cosplay was accurate to Sailor Moonโs Usagi Tsukino, with a glamorous touch of Paris Hilton. Paris Hilton is not exactly an anime fan, but she has been readily active when it comes to anime-inspired ad campaigns. With her knowledge of modern-day fashion, she uses the popularity of anime culture to draw in more people through a fusion of the two.

9. Bella Poarch
Bella Poarch has cosplayed multiple times, and her sense in this regard is on an elite level. The American singerโs popular cosplay involves Hinata Hyuga from Naruto. She posted her pictures on her social media handles. The black wig, the purple dress with fishnets, and the white Byakugam. Apart from that, Bella Poarch perfected the Nezuko cosplay from Demon Slayer. Fans have praised her cosplay sense and how careful she is with the details. Bella Porach is an avid anime fan and gets inspired by watching it.

10. Megan Fox
When it comes to anime cosplay, there are several options to choose from. Megan Fox went for Death Note’s Light Yagami cosplay during the 2022 Halloween. The Transformerโs starโs cosplay included a school uniform, red tie, and red hair. While it was not perfected to its core, it was a blend of anime with Megan Foxโs fashion sense. She cosplayed it alongside her partner, Machine Gun Kelly, who dressed as Ryuk. She has not mentioned anything about being an anime fan, but she seems to have become a popular face in cosplay with her pop culture references.
