One Piece is in the middle of a great battle taking place on the Egghead Island. The Straw Hats are up against the whole Marine fleet, especially after the Buster Call. They are facing their toughest opponent yet in Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, who is one of the Five Elders. Even though Saturn and Kizaru brought enough firepower with them, when things started to go differently, the Buster Call was issued. Within a short time, multiple Marine ships and Vice Admirals surrounded Egghead Island.
Usually, a Buster Call is made with a specific goal in mind, but the Egghead arc Buster Call was made with multiple motives in mind, which ultimately led to its failure, as not every goal was fulfilled.

The Targets of the Egghead Buster Call?
When Saint Jaygarcia Saturn issued the Buster Call, the Marines were already engaged with the Straw Hat Pirates, Jewelry Bonney, and Dr. Vegapunk.
The main objectives were to eliminate:
- Straw Hat Pirates – for awakening an Ancient God
- Bartholomew Kuma – for carrying the bloodline of the Buccaneers
- Dr. Vegapunk – for studying and researching the secrets of the world
As the situation developed, two additional objectives were added:
- Punk Records and York – to secure them
- Mother Flame – to obtain it
York was one of Vegapunk’s satellites, embodying Greed, and she betrayed the protagonists by joining hands with the World Government. For that reason, the Marines wanted to rescue her. On the other hand, Punk Records contained all of Vegapunk’s research, and it was crucial for the World Government to get their hands on it. Lastly, the Mother Flame is a powerful source of energy that could wipe out islands in seconds, as shown when Imu destroyed Lulusia.
Why Egghead Buster Call Was Deemed As A Failure?
From a neutral view, the Egghead Buster Call can be considered to be partially successful, as the Marines eradicated Dr. Vegapunk and acquired York and Mother Flame’s Power. However, from the World Government’s point of view, it was a failure. Even though Dr. Vegapunk was killed, the secrets of the Void Century were revealed to the world posthumously, and it was a major setback for the World Government, as they deliberately tried to hide it for centuries.
Vegapunk’s researchers and satellites escaped with Punk Records into the cloud. The Straw Hat Pirates, Jewelry Bonney, Bartholomew Kuma, and the Giant Warrior Pirates escaped from their grasp. The Giant Warrior Pirates came to the scene to help the Straw Hat Pirates escape from the dire situation, especially since they were allies of the Giants.
During the Dressrosa arc, a giant named Hajrudin joined the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. When Morgans’ new report revealed the situation on Egghead, regarding Straw Hats and Vegapunk, he asked Dorry and Brogy to go to Egghead in his place to help them. They helped the Straw Hats against the Five Elders, and using Hakoku Sovereignty, Dorry and Brogy cleared a path for the Straw Hats by destroying the Marine blockade to escape.
