It has been almost three years since Chainsaw Man Season 1 premiered. Chainsaw Man Season 1 set the tone of the anime, with several bloodied scenes. Those scenes mostly centered on the devils, who formed a major chunk of the anime. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s creation introduced multiple devils within 12 episodes.
While some were memorable and played a major part, others were just secondary characters and helped in the story’s progression. Most of the devils shared the same trait, but a few were different and even formed contracts with humans. Here is a list of all the devils who appeared in Chainsaw Man Season 1, with a few of them returning in Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.

1. Chainsaw Devil/Pochita
The Chainsaw Devil embodies the concept of Chainsaws, with four hands and two legs. All of his hands have extended chainsaws, along with one on his head. It is a muscular Devil and can carry others by binding them with the chains and using them as a rope. The Chainsaw Devil is one of the strongest devils in the series and is feared by other devils.
The Chainsaw Devil has immense speed, strength, durability, regeneration, and hearing. It can erase devils by consuming them. It can regain its strength by consuming blood. Unfortunately, it was weakened after the fight with the Four Horsemen and transformed into a vulnerable state of Pochita.
2. Control Devil/Makima
Makima is the Control Devil and manifests all of its powers and abilities. Makima appears to be in her twenties, has red hair, and yellow eyes. She believes herself to be the necessary evil and is under the control of the Japanese Government. She is extremely cunning, manipulative, and cold, and does not feel any shame when luring others using deception.
The Control Devil has immense physical abilities and a great sense of smell. She has a great intellect, excels at hand-to-hand combat, and just as her name suggests, she can control and manipulate others at will. Her controlling powers allow her to borrow the hearing of animals and birds, potentially knowing about everyone’s whereabouts not only on Earth but also in hell.
3. Blood Devil/Power
Power is the Blood Devil and works under Makima’s special squad. The Blood Devil is in possession of a female corpse with blonde hair, red and yellow eyes, and two red horns on her head. Her Devil Form has four arms, sharp teeth, long horns, and her intestines are visible from the chest cavity.
Power is greedy and childish, and her motive for fighting is to gain something from it. When she is outmatched, she prefers running away. Being the Blood Devil, she can create weapons from her blood and can restore her health by consuming blood. Like other devils, she also has heightened physicality and the ability to smell.
4. Angel Devil/Angel
Angel embodies the Angel Devil and works as a Public Safety Devil Hunter from Tokyo Special Division 4. The Angel Devil embodies the concept of angels and possesses both angelic and devilish aspects.
Being a devil, it believes humans should die, but after death, it comforts and apologizes to them. The Angel Devil is pretty lazy and does not continue the fight after his opponent is knocked unconscious.
He has enhanced reflexes and can absorb lifespans of other people and use them in creating weapons. Angel has Angel Wings that allow him to fly. He is also quite efficient at spearmanship and swordsmanship since he can create weapons from absorbed lifespans.
5. Katana Devil
Katana Man is a devil-human hybrid who has a contract with the Katana Devil. The Katana Devil is a pretty strong devil, manifesting the power of the katana. While its final form has not been shown, it has a katana sticking out of its hands and head in the hybrid form. Katana Man is a stubborn character who is selfish and cruel.
Thanks to the Katana Devil, it possesses unmatched strength, speed, and durability. Due to multiple swords sticking out of his body, he can perform sword dash, making him lethal in close range. Through the consumption of blood, he can regenerate and regain strength. It comes as a no-brainer that Katana Man/Katana Devil is an absolute beast when it comes to swordsmanship.
6. Ghost Devil
The Ghost Devil is one of the weirdest-looking Devils in Chainsaw Man, manifesting the concept of ghosts. Unfortunately, its exact personality is still a mystery, but it was scared to face Akane Sawatari, who had a contract with the Snake Devil. However, when offered more body parts as part of a contract, it readily agreed to face Akane.
Like other Devils, the Ghost Devil possesses enhanced strength, regeneration, speed, and durability. It does have a couple of unique abilities like ghost physiology, where it cannot be touched, unless hit by a special weapon or a devil attacks it. The second one is fear perception, where the Devil can perceive individuals through their fear. Unfortunately, it cannot track individuals without fear.
7. Snake Devil
The Snake Devil manifests the concept of snakes and has an appearance similar to that of a reptile. Unfortunately, its personality remains unknown as it was shown to be under a contract with Akane Sawatari. With standard devil abilities like enhanced strength, speed, and durability, the Snake Devil can also perform the Absorption and Release technique. In this method, it devours devils with its large mouth and later dispels them as fully recovered beings, but now working for the Snake Devil. It makes fighting against enemies easier since someone else fights in its place.

8. Fox Devil
Fox Devil is one of the devils who made her appearance during Chainsaw Man Season 1. Only her head is shown in the anime, which resembles a white fox with multiple eyes. She has a contract with several Devil Hunters, including Aki Hayakawa.
It is monstrously large and has sharp fangs. The Fox Devil has no remorse while devouring other devils, and often asks permission from Devil Hunters to eat other devils. She can regain her health by consuming blood and has enhanced strength and durability.
9. Future Devil
Embodying the concept of the future, the Future Devil is another devil that has a contract with Aki Hayakawa. The Future Devil resembles a tree, with three eyes vertically stacked and a wide mouth. Its most unique feature is the large cavity in its chest where there is an oversized eye. The Future Devil has a playful personality, and its contracts are often costly. After looking into Aki Hayakawa’s future, the Future Devil made a contract with him, residing in his right eye in exchange. As a result, Aki obtains the ability to see 4–5 seconds ahead.
10. Bat Devil
The Bat Devil is the main antagonist of the Bat Devil arc, with a massive humanoid bat appearance. It has large eyes and sharp teeth, with its arms joined to its torso by the skin flaps. Like other devils, the Bat Devil hates humans, but is capable of forming a relationship with other devils, like the Leech Devil, who was his girlfriend.
Apart from enhanced speed and durability, it has a great sense of smell. The Bat Devil can turn its mouth into a cannon, shooting a compressed blast of air, capable of destroying a building. It has wings and can regenerate on consuming blood, with children being its favourite cuisine.
11. Leech Devil
The Leech Devil is the girlfriend of the Bat Devil and has two pairs of legs, two tentacle-like hands resembling the orifices of a leech, a face with a large mouth and sharp teeth, and three pairs of udder-like glands. Being a Devil, she hates humans and has the basic devil abilities, along with a strong tongue that was able to pierce through a human torso.
While these were the most prominent devils, there are also other devils who appeared in Chainsaw Man Season 1. They are as follows:
