Last year at San Diego Comic-Con, Lazarus anime directed by Shinichirou Watanabe (known for Cowboy Bebop) was announced. Warner Bros/Adult Swim backed the anime with MAPPA overseeing the animation and being produced by SOLA Entertainment. The anime also has the John Wick franchise legendary director Chad Stahelski on board for stunt sequence supervision. It was also announced that Kamasi Washington, DJ Floating Points, and Bonobo will compose the anime scores.
Although no official release dates were given at the time of the announcement, the anime was set to air on Toonami. The audience and the panel were briefed with character design sheets, boards, backgrounds, and choreographed action sequences by Stahelski’s team.
And now, a year after the announcement was made, according to a deleted post on Adult Swimโs official Twitter account, Lazarus anime’s first look will be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con on July 26, 2024.
