Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8 has been one of the most popular Shonen manga in the past few years. Even though it is a Shonen manga, the protagonist does not fit the teenager category as he is over thirty years old. One thing the creator has done perfectly is the introduction of an all-powerful antagonist in Kaiju No. 9. The story focuses on the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defence Force trying to subdue the kaiju that attacked Japan.

While the Defence Force has several potent members, the presence of Kaiju No. 9 has caused them to taste defeat multiple times. The antagonist is so ruthless and deadly that it not only breaks the heroes physically but also emotionally. Kaiju No. 9 made it possible through all the abilities he possesses and everything he acquired by living with the humans.

Kaiju No. 9’s Terror Increased Because Of His Intellect

Kaiju No. 9 is not like other mindless Kaiju. It has studied humans for quite some time to learn their ways and how to counter them. During the initial arcs, the monsters shapeshifted into a human named Takamichi Hotaka and worked for the Professional Kaiju Cleaning Company. On top of being powerful enough to be titled as a Numbered Kaiju, the intellect makes it a formidable foe. From ambushing Ichikawa and Furuhashi, absorbing Numbers Weapon 2, to spawning other Numbered Kaiju, Kaiju No. 9 has done it all with utmost perfection.

Every Ability That Makes Kaiju No. 9 a Living Nightmare

Kaiju No. 9 is, without a doubt, one of the strongest characters in Kaiju No. 8. There are multiple reasons for this, one of them being his immense physicality. When it first appeared, it already had a fortitude level of 8.5, which gradually grew after his transformations. The antagonist’s strength, speed, reflexes, and durability can put any Defence Force member to shame. As mentioned before, it can also shapeshift, making it one of the most dangerous Kaiju to deal with.

Since it is still a beast, it can go through metamorphosis and essentially become stronger after gaining a new body. The memory assimilation is the icing on top of the cake for the metamorphosis. It can detach any part of its body and use it as a projectile to shoot at others. Its other terrifying abilities include duplication and fusion with other Kaiju to become a greater and more potent being.

While troop members can use weapons to hurt it, it can regenerate and resurrect, making their efforts useless. It can camouflage and create Kaiju, essentially Numbered Kaiju. After absorbing Numbers Weapon 2, it can release highly destructive energy attacks and create a force shield to protect itself from attacks. Naoya Matsumoto also made it a specialist in hand-to-hand combat, making the antagonist an all-rounder in causing destruction and instilling fear in everyone’s minds.
