Another popular Shounen manga is nearing its end! On June 5, 2025, Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8 released Chapter 127, marking the end of the Meireki Era Monster. It has been months since the final war began, and the final antagonist of the manga emerged. There have been several ups and downs during the final battle, with the momentum shifting left and right.

At one point, it felt like humanity would not survive to see the next, but thanks to the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defence Force, the era of the monsters has likely come to an end. Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 126 saw Kikoru Shinomiya clearing a path for Kafka Hibino, and the current chapter featured the protagonist putting his all into his final attack and earning the supposed victory.

Kafka Hibino Fulfils The Promise He Made His Younger Self

After Kikoru Shinomiya’s efforts, Kafka stands near the core of the Meireki Era Monster. As he puts everything into a single blow, the antagonists start to regenerate rapidly. While everyone is worried, Kafka remains unfazed. Apart from Mina Ashiro, there is only one person who kept his faith in Kafka throughout, and that is Reno Ichikawa. Even after being injured, Reno Ichikawa comes to his aid and stops the regeneration by launching an attack.

It gave the protagonist enough time to put the rage of the fallen soldiers and the hope of his friends into a single punch. A flashback featured the younger Kafka talking with the current Kafka. The current Kafka asked his younger self whether it would be cool to end the fight in a single strike, to which his younger self smiled and replied yes. Finally, Kafka Hibino’s punch connects and shatters the core of the Meireki Era Monsters, putting an end to the nightmare.

What Does The Future Of Kaiju No. 8 Hold?

As of Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 127, it looks like the Meireki Era Monster has fallen, but until the next chapter releases, there is still a bit of doubt. It is a common thing to see antagonists coming back from the dead time and again. If the antagonist is indeed dead, then it is fair to say that Kaiju No. 8’s ending is pretty near. Following the typical Shounen climax, there will be celebrations surrounding humanity’s victory, but everyone will feel tense since it is unknown whether Kafka can turn back into a human or not. Also, there is Mina Ashiro, who is in love with the protagonist.

Fans expect to see some kind of romantic relationship building between them. However, nothing can be said at the moment. Only through the upcoming chapters will everyone get to see whether Naoya Matsumoto is ending his magnum opus or whether there is still something left to showcase. Nonetheless, Kaiju No. 8 has been a sensational manga and has provided fans with a ton of entertainment.
