Solo Leveling has truly exceeded everyoneโ€™s expectations after premiering on the big screens. The manhwa gained a massive following, which boosted the chances of its anime adaptation. After a glorious season one, Solo Leveling has returned with the second season. However, the good news for the fandom is yet to come.

Three episodes into Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow, Kakao Entertainment announced that Chugongโ€™s masterpiece will be adapted into a live adaptation. Solo Leveling conquered the manhwa world, then the anime world, and it is looking to conquer the live-action world next, especially when anime adaptations are booming in the market.

Solo Leveling Live-Action Adaptation Confirmed

On January 22, 2025, Kakao Entertainment confirmed that the Solo Leveling live-action adaptation is under development. Currently, the planning, scriptwriting, and development are taken care of by the media division. Before the confirmation, the news was first around one and a half years ago, in October 2023.

Heaeun Kwak, director of D&C WEBTOON, announced that the popular manhwa will be adapted into a live adaptation during an interview with Lโ€™Internaute, a popular French news website. It has not been confirmed whether Chugong will be actively taking part in the production process like Eiichiro Oda did with One Piece Live Action. However, fans will miss the presence of DUBU (Jang Sung-Rak), the artist of Solo Leveling, who passed away in 2022.

Expectations Surrounding Solo Leveling Live-Action Adaptation

The anime live-action adaptation market is currently booming, especially after Netflixโ€™s One Piece Live-Action brought back the glory days of the genre. Initially, there were several ventures into anime live-action adaptations, but none of them were able to fulfill the desires of the fans. Dragon Ball: Evolution and Netflixโ€™s Death Note failed miserably at the box office.

However, times have changed, and Solo Leveling could utilize the surroundings to its advantage. They have garnered a massive fandom thanks to the manhwa and the anime. With the latest announcement, their popularity will be on the rise. Sung Jinwoo is one of the coolest protagonists around. Everyone would live to see him summoning his shadow army or take down the Monarchs on the big screen.

Even though the time could not be perfect, there is always a risk of overdoing things and rushing things. While there is a chance to become a popular live adaptation, it is never easy. Everything should be done carefully, and each detail should be checked thoroughly. Nonetheless, they are excited and are expecting to see the anime live adaptation genre increase its market through Solo Leveling.
