Chainsaw Man is undoubtedly one of the most popular manga of the modern generation. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s magnum opus has gifted the fans with a unique plot featuring Devils and humans. While the former is the embodiment of evil, humans can form a contract with them to eradicate other devils or spread more evil and destruction.
However, after more than 190 chapters were published, a question is lingering in the minds of the Chainsaw Man fans. The protagonist, Denji, is always dependent on other people. Initially, it had a new perspective to it, but with time, it feels like Tatsuki Fujimoto is glorifying Denji’s lack of choices too much. He is quite easily manipulated or controlled by others, especially women.
Denji Falls for Every Trick in the Book
Denji is the main protagonist of Chainsaw Man, but he is not like typical Shonen protagonists. While he may be possessed by one of the most potent Devils, he lacks his decision-making abilities. Since the story’s beginning, Makima, the Control Devil, manipulated and controlled him. After killing her, he was manipulated by the Control Devil’s reincarnation, Nayuta.
With the release of Chainsaw Man chapters 191 and 192, it was quite clearly established that Yoru, the War Devil, has taken up the roles of Makima and Nayuta. Denji is a simple guy who longs for love and s*x. Anyone who even promised to provide him with these, he starts to obey them blindly. In chapter 191, when Yoru told Denji to eat his hands, he did it reluctantly since she said she would j*rk him off.

Chainsaw Man is Relying Too Much on Denji’s Gullible Nature
Apart from women, there are other instances where other people have used Denji’s gullible nature to their benefit. While Denji is a popular character, fans sometimes feel that the mangaka is milking the protagonist’s weakness too much. Due to such circumstances, Denji has lost his close ones multiple times. But he never learns from his mistakes, especially when there are Devils involved.
Chainsaw Man has its uniqueness and follows a certain pattern, but often, it glorifies Denji’s lack of decision-making skills. Fans are often overwhelmed by how gullible he can be and sometimes feel it to be too much. With Yoru taking the role of controlling Denji, it will be interesting to whether Chainsaw Man continues the same path or Tatsuki Fujimoto has something different in mind.
