Crunchyroll and Aniplex are two of the largest entertainment companies in the world of anime. While both are owned by the Sony Group, the latest announcement revealed that the two entertainment companies have joined hands and established an anime production company, HAYATE Inc. Crunchyroll is a popular global anime streaming site, and HAYATE Inc. will exclusively produce and develop anime for its parent company to stream. The new production venture will include employers from either of the parent companies.
The news of the establishment of HAYATE Inc. was announced through a press conference held by the officials. The joint venture company will have its headquarters located in Tokyo, Japan. They also released an official statement regarding Hayate Inc.โs role in the field of entertainment.

The manga and anime industry is growing at a steady pace, bringing billions in revenue. As per the report of Parrot Analytics, anime alone brought about $5.5 billion for worldwide streaming services in 2023, and $14.3 billion from merchandise. In 2024, the figures reached $33.6 billion for the global anime market. With the numbers increasing each year, HAYATE Inc. could potentially become one of the top anime production companies with the backing of the Sony Group.
HAYATE Inc. Will Be Headed By The Aniplex Team
While HAYATE Inc. is a joint venture of Crunchyroll and Aniplex, the two heads of the newly founded production company belong to the Aniplex Team. President and Chief Operation Officer Leo Watanabe and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Masanori Miyake will lead the company. As for the workers, it will include employees from both Crunchyroll and Aniplex.
Crunchyroll is partly owned by Aniplex and Sony Pictures Entertainment (U.S.-based), while Aniplex operates under Sony Music Entertainment Japan. Additionally, Aniplex owns CloverWorks Inc. and A-1 Pictures, renowned for producing Solo Leveling, Fairy Tail, Erased, The Promised Neverland, Spy x Family, Bocchi the Rock!, etc.
