Netflix’s Devil May Cry anime is scheduled to release on April 3, 2025. With a few days left before its release, the popular streaming platform released a new video of the upcoming urban fantasy action series featuring Evanescence’s latest single, Afterlife. It is quite clear that Adi Shankar is trying to bring back the nostalgic vibes along with the upcoming Devil May Cry series.

Evanescence was formed in 1994 and remains one of the most popular Rock Bands worldwide. The soundtrack album will be available for download after the show’s release on April 3, 2025, but the lyrics to Afterlife are available online. Netflix has done a great job in combining Dante and Lady facing the White Rabbit with Evanescence’s Afterlife giving the perfect 90s vibe to show.

Evanescence on their latest soundtrack

Evanescence was founded by Amy Lee and Ben Moody in 1994. The former is a singer and keyboardist, while the latter is a guitarist. Releasing a new song after almost four years, and that too for a popular franchise like Devil May Cry has the Rock Band excited. Amy Lee was not familiar with the franchise, but she released a statement regarding the upcoming series.

Amy Lee said,

I absolutely love the show, art and story. I have always loved good anime. Right from the first scene of the show, I knew it was going to be good. Creative and thought-provoking, horrific and beautiful, classic.

When asked about Afterlife, Amy Lee said,

For me, the song is both the pain and the resolve. From the perspective of someone who has lost so much, and will always carry the marks of that, but also someone who has reached the point of being past the fear. No trepidation, no hesitation in your quest when you have committed to the fight and have nothing left to lose.

Adi Shankar calls Evanescence the only choice for Devil May Cry

With the Devil May Cry animated series nearing its premiere, Adi Shankar released a statement mentioning that he knew Evanescence was the best fit for Devil May Cry. Their music would readily fit Dante’s story and make it an instant hit. He said,

Amy and her squad own this space. Evanescence sculpts entire emotional landscapes,” he says. “Their sound is alchemy — gothic grandeur meets raw vulnerability, a fusion of cinematic and anthemic. Amy Lee is a frequency that cuts straight to the soul. The way Amy Lee’s voice carries pain, power, and transcendence in a single note is exactly what Devil May Cry needed. To me, it wasn’t about picking a band—it was about recruiting the only band that could make this moment immortal.

Fans React to Evanescence Involvement

Previously, it was announced that Rollin’ by the Limp Bizkit would be used as the Opening Theme of the upcoming series. It had the fans excited and now, with another popular Rock Band collaborating with the Devil May Cry franchise. Evanescence released Afterlife almost four years after its last album, The Bitter Sweet. Soon after the announcement, fans on social praised the collaboration and showered Netflix with love.

@TopGunHatch commented, “Evanescence in 2025? This is truly our year.”
