Winter 2025 and Spring 2025 saw multiple anime premiering at the same time. Starting with Solo Leveling Season 2, Sakamoto Days, to the return of One Piece, it was like an anime galore all around. After experiencing some of the best releases of the year, the fans are lining up for Summer anime 2025 to continue with the anime fest. While most of the releases will be returning anime, there are a couple of new releases along with them that will have everyone’s attention.
Summer Anime 2025 Lineup
1. Dan Da Dan Season 2

Dan Da Dan is one of the most popular anime right now, with its fanbase increasing in size every day. The mixture of supernatural and comedy made tons of people tune in to the anime when it was released in the fall of 2024. The story follows the journey of Ken Takakura and Momo Ayase, who are hell-bent on proving each other wrong but discarding the idea of aliens and ghosts, respectively. Unfortunately, they found that both of them existed together, and they formed an uncanny duo to fend off those entities. They received help in the form of Granny Turbo, a yokai that initially hunted the duo.
2. Kaiju No. 8 Season 2

Kaiju No. 8 brings a proper Shonen story that begins on a light-hearted note in a world where humanity is constantly hunted by monsters. But as the story progressed, it took a darker turn, with the antagonist trying all kinds of mischief to get rid of the humans. Kaiju No. 8 focuses on 32-year-old Kafka Hibino, who failed to become a soldier of the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defence Force. However, his life took a turn when he passed in his last attempt and was selected under the leadership of his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. While he was a good-for-nothing individual and lacked battle prowess, things changed when he gained the powers of a Kaiju and became Kaiju No. 8.
3. The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 is one of the most sought-after Isekai anime of Summer 2025. Fans are excited to see Naofumi Iwatani get even stronger than in the last season. The anime is about four people getting summoned to the Kingdom of Melromarc, and they are presented with a sword, spear, bow, and shield, respectively. Unfortunately, Naofumi ends up being the Shield Hero and is ridiculed by everyone for being the weakest of the lot. Seeing the lack of respect, the protagonist vows to become stronger and save the citizens from the ill fate awaiting them.
4. Sakamoto Days Season 1 Part 2

Sakamoto Days Season 1 Part 1 was one of the most hyped-up anime of 2025 because the world’s deadliest assassin was making his anime debut. Fans were treated to some crazy actions, with all types of assassins joining the hunt for Taro Sakamoto.
The anime focuses on Taro Sakamoto, once referred to as the deadliest assassin on the planet, who left the business and settled down with his wife and child. But his past was not ready to leave him as a hefty bounty was put up for his head, with assassins everywhere trying to claim the prize. Sakamoto is helped by Shin Asakura, Liu Xiatang, and Yoichi Nagumo to find the one who put up the bounty as well as defeat all the assassins. Now, with Part 2, the excitement will be doubled.
5. Dr. Stone: Science Future Part 2

Dr. Stone: Science Future is the last season of the popular Shonen series, so naturally, there is excitement surrounding it. The story revolves around a young scientist named Senku Ishigami, who is trying to bring back the era of science after humanity was petrified for more than three millennia. He unpetrified a group of people whom he could trust and set out to find the reason behind the petrification and who did it. Season 4 Part 2 will put the curtain down on the Why-Man, who is responsible for the petrification, but the person resides on the Moon. Senku will have to use his knowledge to create a space shuttle from scratch to meet the Why-Man.
6. Gachiakuta

Gachiakuta is one of the two anime on the list that is not a continuing series. The manga gained quite a popularity, with the fans readily demanding an anime adaptation. At last, they will get to experience the story on their screens from Summer 2025.
Gachiakuta is about Rudo Surebrec, who was wrongly accused of his uncle’s murder and thrown into the “Abyss,” a massive pit where people and trash are dumped. Determined to get out of the “Abyss” and find the real killer, Rudo meets Enjin inside the pit. He claimed to be a Cleaner, a person who fights the monsters inside the pit along with Vital Instruments. Rudo reluctantly becomes a Cleaner and fights monsters with only one thought in mind.

7. The Summer Hikaru Died

The Summer Hikaru Died is the second new anime on the list and is from the Seinen demography. It follows the story of two friends, Yoshiki Tsujinaka and Hikaru Indo. When the latter dies, an eldritch being takes up his identity and befriends Yoshiki. However, Yoshiki realizes it and confronts him, only to receive the shock of his life. Weird and supernatural things start to happen around the town as the story progresses. The duo is later joined by their friends to try to find the reason behind the mysterious happenings. The Summer Hikaru Died is a must-watch for horror lovers as it provides great jump scares.
8. Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Season 2 Part 2

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, inspired by a famous Japanese urban legend, centers on Nene Yashiro, a girl who dreams of having a boyfriend. To make her wish come true, she summons Hanako-kun, a ghost said to haunt the girls’ bathroom at her school. Despite the eerie rumors, she finds that Hanako-kun is actually quite friendly. In return for his help, Nene becomes his assistant, aiding him in battling dangerous spirits, maintaining harmony between the human and spirit worlds, and uncovering the truth behind the myths about him. With its mix of comedy and the supernatural, the anime is perfect for individuals who want to have a good time.

9. A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2

A Couple of Cuckoos Season 1 introduced the unusual relationship between Nagi Umino and Erika Amano, who were accidentally switched at birth. Living under one roof, their dynamic grows complicated as Nagi’s crush Hiro Segawa and his non-blood-related sister Sachi, who develops romantic feelings for him, also move in.
Season 2 will feature even more drama with the arrival of Ai Mochizuki, Nagi’s childhood friend who secretly loves him. With four girls now living with Nagi, the story evolves from a love quadrangle to a full-blown pentagonal romance. 10. My Dress-Up Darling Season 2

An underrated anime from the romantic genre, My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 will bring back Marin and Wakana, with the latter creating more dresses for the former to cosplay. In My Dress-Up Darling, Wakana Gojo is a reserved student who secretly excels at making hina dolls and sewing. Afraid of being judged, he hides his hobby until Marin Kitagawa, a vibrant classmate, discovers his skill. Fascinated by cosplay, she asks Gojo to help craft her costumes. As they collaborate, Gojo begins to come out of his shell, growing more confident while exploring his creativity through cosplay design.
