It’s a strike! Straight out of Blue Lock’s panel at this year’s Anime Expo. The highly anticipated Blue Lock Season 2 has officially revealed its first main trailer, with a premiere date of October 5, 2024. Animated by Studio 8bit, the new season promises to deliver even more intense soccer action and character development in its 14-episode run.
The initial PV opens with Ego addressing the 35 strikers who made it through the selection process. He stirs up their confidence by stating that if they fail to win against the U-20 Japan National Team, “Blue Lock” will vanish and there will be trials, for a spot, on the team. Isagi responds to Ego’s speech with a surge of determination declaring, “This match could alter my life entirely with these hands” setting the stage for a battle.
Towards the end of the PV Oliver Aiku portrayed by Hino Satoshi makes his debut appearance. This marks the time his character’s voice is revealed.
What is the story of Blue Lock?
The manga tells the story of Japan’s team struggling to recover after a loss, at the 2018 World Cup. In search of an Ace Striker to lead them to victory, the Football Association aims to develop a striker with a desire, for goals and success capable of turning around losing games. To achieve this they have brought together 300 players from Japan. The question remains; who will emerge as the team’s leader and can they overcome all challenges with their skills and determination?
Returning and New Cast Members
Studio 8bit, which animated the first season of Blue Lock, continues to bring the series to life. The first season, which premiered last October, ran for 2 cours and featured an impressive main cast, including:
- Soma Saito as Hyoma Chigiri
- Kazuki Ura as Yoichi Isagi
- Yuki Ono as Rensuke Kunigami
- Tasuku Kaito as Meguru Bachira
In addition to the returning cast, Blue Lock Season 2 introduces several new characters voiced by talented actors:
- Yuichi Nakamura as Shido Ryusei
- Makoto Furukawa as Karasu Tabito
- Kengo Kawanishi as Eita Otoya
- Takuya Eguchi as Yukimiya Kenyu
- Hiro Shimono as Julian Loki
- Shinichiro Kamio as Leonardo Luna
In addition to the upcoming second TV anime season, Blue Lock โ Episode Nagi, a movie that premiered in Japan on April 19. Crunchyroll is bringing the movie to North America, with a release starting on June 28.
