The original anime “Lycoris Recoil” is set to get six new short films, focusing on the daily lives of characters Chisato Nishikigi, Takina Inoue, and others from Cafรฉ LycoReco. This announcement was made during the animeโs second-anniversary event at Sumida Aquarium.
Each short film will be directed and storyboarded by different creators, with original series director Shingo Adachi overseeing the project. Character designer Muru Imigi will also write the script for one of the films. The official X account of Lycoris Recoil has shared this announcement along with a teaser image. Other details regarding the release date, and staff are yet to be announced.
Lycoris Recoil Synopsis
Lycoris Recoil is an original Japanese anime series by Studio ‘A-1’ Pictures, aired for a total of 13 episodes from Jul 2, 2022, to Sep 24, 2022. Later, a manga adaptation was also serialized from September 2022 in Media Factory’s “Comic Flapper”.
In Japan, a secret government-funded all-female task force of assassins and spies called Direct Attack (DA) keeps the country safe by training orphaned girls to be assassins, known as “Lycoris.” Takina Inoue, an orphan raised into an agent, breaks the rule during a mission only to get dismissed and transferred to work at a cafรฉ called “LycoReco”.
At the cafe, Takina meets Chisato Nishikigi, an elite Lycoris agent. Takina in the hope of getting reinstated in DA, co-operates in daily tasks like childcare, shopping, and teaching. Together, they deal with threats from terrorists led by Majima.
