The ninth compiled volume of the Senpai Is an Otokonoko manga series concluded on Thursday, July 25, 2024, and officially confirmed that the series will conclude with its 10th volume.
Senpai Is an Otokonoko Manga is an original series by Pom(Art & Story), serialized digitally through Line Manga from December 7, 2019, to December 30, 2021, covering 100 chapters. Ichijinsha, a Japanese publishing company compiled the first tankobon volume of the series. Kodansha USA holds the license for the English publication of the series and the first volume is set to release in April 2025 as announced in Sakura-Con 2024. Webtoon has been serializing the series in other regions digitally since 2021 and has also been releasing English versions since March 9, 2023.
The series secured third place in the Web Manga category of the 2021 Next Manga Awards and became the third most-read series on Line Manga in 2021. An anime adaptation of the manga series by Studio “Project No. 9” also started streaming on July 5, 2024. The anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll & Amazon Prime Video.
Senpai is an Otokonoko Manga Plot
‘Senpai is an Otokonoko’ follows Makoto Hanaoka, a second-year high school guy who loves cross-dressing, not caring about his mother’s disapproval. Due to his cross-dressing behavior, he has been subjected to severe criticism from his classmates.
Aoi Saki, a first-year high school student falls for Makoto under the misconception of him being a girl. Aoi confesses her love for Makoto only to get rejected by him and learns that he is a guy who loves to cross-dress. Makoto expects Saki to be disgusted after learning the truth but in turn, Saki is even more determined to win him over.
Ryuuji Taiga, a childhood friend of Makoto learns about the criticism Makoto faces from his classmates and is always ready to defend his friend. However, Taiga Ryuuji himself holds mixed feelings towards Makoto which might be more than friendship. The dynamics between the trio eventually lead to a love triangle.
