Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 12 finally featured the much-awaited showdown between Sung Jinwoo and the Ant King. Even though people were expecting it to be a long fight, the anime wrapped it up in an episode, but it was more than enough to crash a few servers upon its release. It was a one-sided fight with the Ant King, who never got a chance to pin down the protagonist.
However, after the latest anime adaptation of the fight, there has been an ongoing debate regarding who did it better, the anime or the manhwa. Let us break down the details to see whose portrayal of the showdown was more noteworthy.
The Anime Delivers a Visual Knockout
Without a doubt, the visual representation of the fight in the anime was better than the manhwa. The anime uses multiple frames per second for a seamless animation and provides the audience with the best experience. The color palette and the movement of the characters also felt natural, and nothing was over the top. In the case of the manhwa, it is a great representation of the showdown, but a still picture is not enough to provide the cinematic experience that an anime provides. The aura clash was spectacular, and in the end, the fear was clearly visible on the Ant Kingโs face.
Manhwa Keeps the Raw Details Intact
The manhwa is the original representation of the authorโs thoughts, while the anime is a representation of the manhwa. As a result, the manhwa is more detailed, and to cope with the time constraints, anime often overlooks certain details. These are minute details, but these minute details take a bigger shape in the long run.
In the case of the Ant King vs Jinwoo fight, the first panel features the latter hitting the former, Sung Jinwoo spitting blood, and Sung Jinwoo returning the punch, sending the Ant King flying through the cave wall. However, in the anime, the blood-spitting scene is changed to a normal reaction, and Sung Jinwooโs punch does not send the Ant King flying.
There are also other details that the manhwa has done better, like the Ant Kingโs tongue, the moment where Sung Jinwooโs Mutilation ability is maximized is changed a bit in the anime to make it look like the protagonist was just about to be pinned down, and Sung Jinwooโs โExchangeโ sequence was also tweaked.

Final Thought
When it comes to experimentation, the anime does a better job, but manhwa, being the original, has better detailing. There were a few moments when Jinwooโs face looked bland, and most of the time, it was just about aura. However, in these aspects, the manhwa did a better job. People who experienced the showdown for the first time might feel that the anime is better because it is once in a lifetime experience as everything takes place in front of your eyes.
For an experience, the anime is better, but when the audience wants to enjoy every aspect of the showdown, the manhwa is, without a doubt, the winner. Of course, in the case of the manhwa, the readers need to work their fingers to scroll the page, and if they can overcome it, a whole new Sung Jinwoo vs. the Ant King awaits them. Also, the manhwa featured Sung Jinwoo using Shadow Extraction on the dead Ants, which has not been showcased in the anime as of Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 12.
