There are several manga in the sports genre, but few come close to Yugo Kobayashiโ€™s Ao Ashi. The manga was first serialized on January 5, 2015, and has been running for over a decade. However, the splendid football journey of Ashito Aoi will soon come to an end. It has been officially revealed that the manga will conclude with chapter 410. A big announcement is awaiting the fandom on May 2, 2025.

The manga currently has 38 tankobon volumes, with its chapters serialized in Shogakukanโ€™s Weekly Big Comic Spirits Magazine. The manga has even been adapted into an anime by Production I.G Studio between April 2022 and September 2022. Ao Ashi has more than 23 million manga copies in circulation in 2025 and was even recommended by FIFA World Cup Winner Andres Iniesta. Unfortunately, in the coming months, Yugo Kobayashi will wrap up his magnum opus.

Yugo Kobayashi On Ao Ashiโ€™s Conclusion

In December last year, Yugo Kobayashi revealed on his official blog that Ao Ashi will conclude with Volume 40. On April 11, 2025, the mangaka posted a picture of chapter 406โ€™s draft and wrote, โ€œThe final episode of Ao Ashi has been decided to be episode 410. I am currently drawing chapter 406. The end of the journey is nearing.โ€

It marks the official statement regarding the football mangaโ€™s conclusion. Currently, there are 403 chapters of Ao Ashi, and there is a break in the ongoing week. The manga is expected to end in July if there are no further delays in the release of the chapters. Volume 39 is expected to be released by the end of April 2025, and Volume 40 will be available after Chapter 410โ€™s release.

How Will Ao Ashi End?

There has been no official news about the way Ao Ashi will end, but it was mentioned by the mangaka that the arc involving the Barcelona game will be the last arc of the series. Currently, the Tokyo City Esperion FC U18 vs FC Barcelona U18 is ongoing, with the match reaching its climax.

Chapter 403 featured Ashito motivating his teammates to go for a goal with only four minutes remaining. The match is taking a toll on all 22 players as well as the audience, as both teams are trying to become victorious. It is uncertain how the match will end, but it can be clearly seen that Yugo Kobayashi is keeping the best for the last.
