Ever wondered what an anime version of Wonder Woman would be like? Wonder no more, because Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League has brought it to life. The new teaser trailer premiered at Anime Expo 2024 for Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League reveals anime versions of some Justice League characters. As Robin quips in the trailer, it’s the “Yakuza League.”
Now you don’t need to use MidJourney to get anime versions of Green Lantern, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Flash. Warner Bros. Japan Anime has done that job for you, and you can check out the trailer!
What is the story of Batman Ninja?
In Arkham Asylum Batman finds himself in a showdown, with Gorilla Grodd while attempting to destroy Grodds creation; the Quake Engine. In the midst of the commotion the engine activates, causing the entire asylum to vanish into the air—taking Batman along for the ride. After the dust settles Batman discovers he is now standing on a road realizing he’s no longer in Gotham City but has been transported to Feudal Japan.
His sense of wonder quickly fades as samurai warriors swarm around him intent on ending his life. Through his investigation, Batman uncovers that his long-time nemesis, the Joker is behind the order to eliminate him. A chance encounter with Catwoman reveals that Arkham Asylum inmates had been teleported there two years earlier and now control territories in Japan under Joker’s leadership.
To make his way home Batman must reactivate the Quake Engine housed within what remains of Arkham Asylum—now dubbed Arkham Castle. However there’s an obstacle; apart, from his utility belt most of his weaponry is nowhere to be found. Follow Ninja Batman as he navigates this world and confronts old foes in a quest to return safely to Gotham City.
Warner Bros. Japan Anime: DC Anime Universe… Maybe?
After the first movie “Batman Ninja” in 2018, and the new anime “Isekai Suicide Squad,” Warner Bros. Japan Anime could be laying the groundwork for building an anime version of the Batman-verse, a broader DC Anime Universe, or perhaps even other interconnected universes. And that’s it for the guesswork now. If it is some kind of new DC universe, only time will tell. Or perhaps the official X account of Warner Bros. Japan Anime will reveal more details soon.
