It has been a year since Trafalgar D. Water Law was ambushed by Marshall D. Teach. The manga readers knew that it was going to happen, but it came as a shock to the anime watchers. The fight was featured in One Piece episode 1093 and was released on February 11, 2024. After the fight, fans came up with several fan theories, especially since it was Law’s last appearance.

Many fans believe that the Ope Ope no Mi user died during the battle, but there has been no confirmation from Eiichiro Oda. On the other hand, few fans are speculating about the reason behind Blackbeard’s attack and whether he is still in search of the pirate, even after nearly killing him.

Why Did Blackbeard Ambush The Heart Pirates?

Blackbeard ambushed the Heart Pirates to steal their Road Poneglyph. The Heart Pirates were crucial in taking down Kaido and Big Mom during the Wano arc. Their captain, Trafalgar Law, teamed up with Eustass Kid to defeat Big Mom. After Luffy defeated Kaido and freed Wano, the pirate trio created three copies of the Road Poneglyphs, each getting one copy.

The Road Poneglyph is the only thing that points towards the last island, Laugh Tale. If the Blackbeard Pirates collected all the Road Poneglyph, they could reach the last island, and Marshall D. Teach would be hailed as the King of Pirates. Instead of fighting Kaido, Teach worked smart and attacked an exhausted group of pirates.

Is Trafalgar Law Still Being Followed By Blackbeard?

After the devastating defeat against Blackbeard, Bepo came to Trafalgar Law’s rescue in One Piece episode 1115. Being from the Minks tribe, Bepo had the ability to turn into a Sulong. However, since there was no Moon, he used the Rumble Ball that Tony Tony Chopper gave him. He transformed into his scary Sulong form and after exchanging a few blows, he threw a boulder at the Blackbeard Pirates and escaped with Law.

There have been speculations regarding that character, and it goes both ways. While many thought him to be dead, it was shown that Bepo carried him on his back to a safer place where the Blackbeard Pirates could not reach him or harm him in any way.

It in unknown whether Blackbeard is following Law or not. But there is a massive reason that makes the former choice the more preferable one. The reason for this is the Ope Ope no Mi. Blackbeard is known to steal other people’s Devil Fruit, and the Ope Ope no Mi is one of the strongest and most unique Devil Fruit. Apart from granting the abilities of a doctor, the user can make another individual immortal at the cost of their life.
