Akane Shimizu’s manga Cells at Work! live-action film adaptation gets a super teaser trailer and a December 2024 release in Japan. Warner Bros. announced the live-action adaptation of the series in March 2023.
The cast of the live-action film, along with the teaser trailer, has been announced. Mei Nagano will play the main character as Red Blood Cell(RBC) and Takeru Satoh will play the White Blood Cell(WBC), which protects the body together with red blood cells.
Cells at Work! Live-Action Teaser Trailer
The trailer takes us into the fantastical world within our bodies where reside the tiniest heroes… the cells within us! The excerpts from the movie in the trailer shows – Mei Nagano vowing to be a worthy red blood cell, Takeru Satoh fighting the bacteria, arrival of an unprecedented crisis inside the body, and a Sneezing rocket.
The human body houses an incredible 37 trillion cells. Red blood cells tirelessly deliver oxygen, white blood cells bravely combat bacteria, and countless other cells work to keep you healthy and alive.
Cells at Work! Manga and TV anime
“Cells at Work!” is a bestseller manga series written and illustrated by Akane Shimizu, serialized in Kodansha’s “Monthly Shonen Sirius” from January 2015 to January 2021 and released in six volumes. It has 10 million copies in circulation and multiple successful spin-offs and anime adaptations.
The TV anime adaptation aired for two seasons. The first season(13 eps.) aired from Jul 08, 2018 to Sep 30, 2018(Summer) and the second season(8 eps.) from Jan 09, 2021 to Feb 27, 2021(Winter). It also has a movie and 13-episode anime adaptation of Cells at Work! CODE BLACK spin-off by LIDEN FILMS, which premiered in Winter 2021.
