Following the release of Chainsaw Man – Reze Arc, fans worldwide were anticipating what MAPPA had in store next for the Tatsuki Fujimoto series. When all eyes were on Chainsaw Man‘s Jump Festa Super Stage, the anime’s voice actors unveiled a new anime adaptation.
MAPPA is currently working on an anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man Assassins Arc. This was announced with a teaser visual and promotional video. The anime has yet to announce whether it will be a TV Anime or a movie. That said, what is Chainsaw Man Assassins Arc?
What is Chainsaw Man Assassins Arc?
Chainsaw Man’s Assassins Arc is the direct sequel to the Reze Arc. After Denji’s fight with Reze, due to a news broadcast, the whole world found out that Chainsaw Man was in Japan.
Considering that people like Denji, who aren’t devils or fiends, are incredibly rare, Makima was certain that both America and China would want him. This is exactly what happened, as assassins from America, China, the Soviet Union, and Germany arrived in Japan to kill Denji and bring him back to their countries.
The entire story arc essentially follows Denji and the Public Safety officers as they take on the international assassins.
Will Chainsaw Man Assassins Arc be a TV Anime or Movie?
While most anime fans have come to presume that the Assassins Arc will be a TV Anime, the franchise has yet to announce it. The truth is that the International Assassins Arc from the manga is just 18 chapters long, only four chapters longer than the Reze Arc. Hence, there is no way the story arc alone can be turned into a TV Anime.
While one can speculate that the anime might animate the Assassins Arc with the Gun Devil Arc for the second season, it is highly unlikely, as it would leave the anime with only 18 chapters for the final story arc.
As such, unless Chainsaw Man Assassins Arc is a movie, the anime might be taking the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train route. After Demon Slayer released the Mugen Train Arc movie, Ufotable released the same story as part of the anime’s second season. Similarly, Chainsaw Man Season 2 could open with the Reze Arc and continue through to the Assassins Arc.
