Fire Force Season 3 is ongoing, and it features the Obi Rescue arc. Even though the arc has only reached halfway, fans have been treated to some great explosions. Fire Force has never disappointed when it comes to showcasing great fights, even though it only has one element to feature.
The permutations and combinations Atsushi Ohkubo uses to craft every little technique show how much time he spends on the manga. There are multiple attacks that have entertained the fandom, but the Crimson Moon stands out from the rest. It is an extremely high-level technique and requires great precision. However, unknown to many, the technique has a shocking side effect that can severely injure the user.
What Is The Crimson Moon?
Crimson Moon is an extremely powerful ignition technique that can only be used by the most skilled people in the Fire Force. It requires a great amount of firepower, and the user fires a massive fireball towards their opponent. The explosion from this technique is so strong that it can instantly defeat a Demon Infernal, resembling a red moon. Only the Third Generation Pyrokinetics can use this technique. Since it requires a great deal of power, it sometimes turns the user’s fire blue.
Dark Side of Crimson Moon
While using the Crimson Moon, Third Generation Pyrokinetics overuse their Ignition Abilities since the technique requires great firepower, leading to burning up the oxygen in their body. With no way to use oxygen for combustion, the technique uses the user’s body for ignition, causing severe burns and dehydration. Their body begins to char, leading to a condition known as Tephrosis. The charring is irreplaceable, and few of the victims of Tephrosis go through unbearable pain while using their Ignition Abilities.
Only Konro Sagamiya, Lieutenant of Special Fire Force Company 7, and Hajime Industries’ Yuichiro Kurono are known to suffer from Tephrosis, while the former and the Captain of Special Fire Company 7, Benimaru Shinmon, have been shown to use the Crimson Moon technique in the anime.
While Tephrosis comes as a side effect of Crimson Moon, it also has a positive side apart from the negative one. Tephrosis also allows the user to learn new pyrokinetic abilities. One such ability is Black Smoke, used by Yuichiro Kurono, either to hide from opponents or turn the smoke into sharp objects like kunai and knives. Also, the user can detect any kind of movements that happen with the smoke.
