Crunchyroll is one of the biggest anime streaming platforms in the world, formed through a joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex. It has thousands of anime in its library, with most of them available in multiple languages. The company was founded in 1994 by Gen Fukunaga and Cindy Brennan, with its headquarters located in Coppell, Texas, U.S.A.

With the anime industry going mainstream, Crunchyroll has gained massive popularity and has become one of the most profitable streaming platforms in the world. While the platform is always collaborating with popular franchises, it recently partnered up with Delta Air Lines in the U.S. for in-flight anime viewing.

Crunchyroll Will Bring Hours Of Content For Delta Air Lines

Crunchyroll, partnering with Delta Air Lines, will see the latter provide thousands of hours of content for passengers traveling through the airline. Accessing the in-flight anime library will help passengers choose their favorite anime from more than 2,000 anime titles. On top of that, Delta SkyMiles Members will get a 24-hour free trial for Crunchyroll if logged in through Delta Sync Wi-Fi on their devices.

It will not only be anime series, but also anime movies, with more than 25000 hours of content. There will be more than 50000 episodes from the anime series and movies that will be available to stream through the in-flight anime library. Later in 2025, the collaboration will cover more than 169,000 seatback screens, with the potential to increase in the future.

Reason Behind The Partnership Revealed

Delta Air Lines is one of the busiest airlines in the U.S.A., with flights going to almost 50 different countries regularly, and more than 900 aircraft worldwide. To give the passengers more versatile options to choose from, the partnership was announced, which is also the first of its kind. In the words of Delta Vice President, Julieta McCurry,

Whether youโ€™re diving into the anime genre for the first time or continuing a favorite series, bringing Crunchyroll to Delta gives our customers access to a world of storytelling while onboard and beyond. Itโ€™s part of Deltaโ€™s commitment to delivering industry-leading entertainment that reflects the passions and interests of our customers.

Crunchyroll President, Rahul Purini said,

There is nothing better on a long flight than immersing yourself in the rich storytelling and world-building of anime. Fans can go deep on one series or sample one episode of many series โ€“ from action to adventure, romance, and more. And when they get hooked, they can continue their experience on the Crunchyroll app. We are excited to share what we love with Delta passengers and go to new heights together.

Not only Delta Air Lines, but Crunchyroll is also quite pleased with the partnership and is happy to provide more entertainment for Delta passengers, especially since most US flights previously lacked a proper anime library.
