With an IMDb and MAL score of 8.7, Dandadan is one of the most talked-about and controversial anime of Fall 2024. Concluding its first season on 19th December 2024, with 12 episodes, the series captivated fans with highlights like the episode 4 animation blast, Creepy Nuts’ hit opening theme song Otonoke, Acrobatic Silky’s intriguing backstory, nods to celebrity icons like Ken Takakura & Hiroshi Abe, and the highly controversial unclothed scene of Okarun, Momo Ayase, and Aira Shiratori in episode 9. It’s no wonder Dandadan took over everyone’s FYP this season.
Following the success of season 1, Dandadan season 2 was highly anticipated but not quite this soon. A leaked announcement PV and key visual for season 2 have been circulating across social media, hinting at the release in the Summer 2025 anime lineup, slated for July 2025.
Dandadan Season 1 Highlights and the Manga Arcs Covered
The first season of the Dandadan anime premiered on October 4, 2024, covering the manga’s first three arcs: the Turbo Granny arc, the Acrobatic Silky arc, and the Serpo arc. Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan delivered a hilariously absurd premise with Ken Takakura (Okarun) losing his balls to Turbo Granny and embarking on a wild quest to retrieve them, making the series both bizarre and interesting.
Science Saru‘s animation in Dandadan was exceptional, with several episodes earning 9/10 ratings on IMDb. Beyond the stunning fight sequence in episode 4, highlights included the Acrobatic Silky’s traumatic backstory and her bond with Aira, the much-debated unclothed scene of Okarun, Momo, and Aira after battling the Serpo Alien, Dover Demon, and Nessie underwater, and the introduction of Jin Enjoji (Jiji) as ‘First Love,’ which hilariously stoked Okarun’s jealousy. These elements combined to make the series a standout entertainer.
Here’s What to Expect from Dandadan Season 2
The leaked PV for Dandadan season 2 reveals a release date set for July 2025. With the season 1 finale introducing the Cursed House Arc, season 2 is expected to continue this storyline and potentially adapt the Evil Eye Arc and the Kaiju Arc from the manga.
