Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 was the most hyped anime film of 2025, with the Demon Slayers finally entering the Infinity Castle and engaging with the most potent demons in the final battle. The movie is canon and saw the entire anime fandom unite in support of it. With Ufotable as the animation studio, Koyoharu Gotouge’s magnum opus became a hot topic of discussion, became the highest-grossing anime film of all time, and beat the likes of Superman, which was released earlier in 2025. After so much love and appreciation, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 has been honored with its first award, the “International Animation Award,” from the Critics’ Choice Association’s celebration of AAPI Cinema & Television.
The AAPI (Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders) Cinema & Television is presented annually by the American and Canadian Critics’ Choice Association. The event celebrates exceptional performances and pioneering achievements, both in front of and behind the camera, from the Asian Pacific entertainment community.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 Bags Its First Award
It has only been a few months since Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 film was officially released in Japan, and within such a short time, it has won its first award. On October 1, 2025, the official social media page and website of the Critics’ Choice Awards announced that the film will be honored with the “International Animation Award” during the 4th Annual celebration of the AAPI Cinema & Television event. The Award ceremony will take place on November 14, 2025, in Beverly Hills.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Continues To Dominate The Box Office
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 is still going strong at the box office even after 2-3 months of its release. Upon its release, it has broken multiple records and currently sits on $616 million, and aims to break F1’s record, which is $626.5 million. It has collected millions in revenue in every country it has been released, highlighting the fact that anime has gone mainstream. With such popularity, a magical plot, and magnificent animation, it was just a matter of time before the movie bagged its first award.
In the last few years, several anime have won international awards, showcasing how far the industry has come. With the latest award-winning announcement, the speculations about the Demon Slayer movie winning more awards in the future have strengthened. Haruo Sotozaki’s direction, Yuichi Terao’s cinematography, Ufotable’s animation, etc., are all award-worthy, and with more prominent award ceremonies coming in the future, the speculations might turn out to be true. AAPI Cinema & Television’s “International Animation Award” is only the beginning.
