Dragon Ball DAIMA has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride for the fans. Initially, everyone was excited to watch the Z-Warriors ascend on a new journey. In Dragon Ball Super, they had a universal journey, however, in DAIMA, they were headed to the Demon Realm. Apart from the anime’s return after seven years, there was also an emotional attachment to it.
Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1, 2024, and Dragon Ball DAIMA was his last work. The first episode of the anime was released on October 11, 2024, and it is scheduled to conclude on February 28, 2025. Even though the anime will end soon, the journey till now is quite has been stunning in every aspect, from character introduction to new transformations.
Stepping into the Demon World
Dabura and Majin Buu’s death caused a power struggle in the Demon Realm with Gomah, Shin’s siblings, Dr. Arinsu and Degesu, planned to steal Earth’s Dragon Balls and summon Shenron. They wished that the Z-Warriors become children so the Demons could deal with them easily. Sensing something is wrong, Shin and Kibito ascend to Earth and learn about the situation.
A demon named Glorio arrived and invited Goku to the Demon World to save them from Gomah’s tyranny. Glorio, Goku, and Shin went to the Demon Realm and were attacked by thugs upon arrival. During one of those battles, Goku saved a young girl named Panzy, King Kadan’s daughter and as a gratitude for saving his daughter, Kadan offered to bring the rest of the Z-Warriors to the Demon Realm.
With the Demon Realm Came New Challenges
Shin informs Goku about his siblings, Dr. Arinsu and Degesu, who stayed in the Demon Realm and revealed his family history. Elsewhere, the Gendarmerie, Gomah’s thugs, are in search of Panzy and Goku. Panzy informs Goku about the Dragon Balls and the Tamagamis. Goku defeats the first Tamagami and attains the Dragon Ball. Glorio is seen relying on the message to Dr. Arinsu, relaying that he is not someone who can be trusted.
Dr. Arinsu and Marba created a copy of Majin Buu and named him Majin Kuu. However, when Majin Kuu fought another Tamagami in the hopes of attaining another Dragon Ball, it resulted in an utter defeat. King Kadan send Hybis to bring the Z-Warriors to the Demon Realm, and after arriving on Earth, he carried his King’s order diligently.
The Z-Warriors Assemble
The Z-Warrios finally assembled after reaching the Demon Realm, with Vegeta challenging the Second World Tamagami. He defeated him after going Super Saiyan 3. On the other hand, the First World Tamagami was challenged by Majin Duu, another copy of Majin Buu. Majin Duu defeated the Tamagami with Dr. Arinsu and Majin Kuu’s help.
Watching the Z-Warriors racking up the wins, Gomah uses his powers to cause trouble for the Z-Warriors and addresses the Gendarmerie Force to take them out. While watching the battle from afar, Gomah noticed an artifact called the Tertian Occulus, popular as the Third Eye. The artifact is believed to grant unimaginable strength. Through his cunning means, Gomah acquired it from Hybis. Elsewhere, Goku and his friends were saved by King Kadan’s troops.
The Final Battle
Having acquired the Third Eye, Gomah transforms into the Third Eye Gomah. Even in Super Saiyan 3, Goku is unsuccessful in defeating Gomah. At last, Neva gave his powers to Goku, helping him transform into Super Saiyan 4 and defeated Gomah. However, the latter used the Third Eye to trap Goku and drain him of his powers.
Using this opportunity, Glorio summons Porunga using the Dragon Balls and wishes something in Namekian. While Dr. Arinsu believes that he fulfilled her wish, it is revealed that Glorio wishes for everyone to go back to their normal self. With the Z-Warriors in their adult form, Vegeta repeatedly struck Gomah. He transformed into Super Saiyan 3 and continued the rampage. However, he was soon drained of his powers to maintain the form for so long.
Dr. Arinsu found a way to defeat Gomah, with Goku and Piccolo deciding to team up to execute the plan. With Vegeta not tagging out, Bulma shared an embarrassing secret of their relationship, which caused the Prince of Saiyans to back out. Episode 19 concluded with Goku teaching Gomah about Super Saiyan transformations, which lasted till Super Saiyan 4.
Dragon Ball DAIMA’s final episode is scheduled to release on February 28, 2025, and can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
