Fire Force has several mysteries hidden within the plot. There are mysteries surrounding the true identity of the Evangelist, how the Pillars are determined, Adollaโ€™s origin, etc. While these are quite interesting topics, Rafflesโ€™ story takes the win when it comes to mysteries. The character has had a mysterious link to the Holy Sol Temple for ages, but Atsushi Ohkuboโ€™s storytelling kept it subdued until the right moment.

The mangaka is a genius for incorporating bits of information about Raffles here and there to keep the hype alive. Likewise, fans are quite intrigued by Raffles and want to know more about him. There are several Raffles in Fire Force, including Raffles I, Raffles II, and Raffles 3, but it is the first one that holds the most significance to the plot. While it may come as a surprise to many, it was Raffles I who led the world after the Great Cataclysm.

Raffles Iโ€™s Contribution To Fire Force

Raffles I is one of the most respected and loved individuals in Atsushi Ohkuboโ€™s Fire Force. While his exact age or origin remains unknown, he is believed to be the Holy Sol Templeโ€™s founder. Raffles I found the Adolla Burst, which was initially recognized as a divine flame, and used it to build Amaterasu, which powers the Tokyo Empire as the perpetual energy generator. Based on this belief in a fusion between religion and science, the Holy Sol Temple was established. It made Raffles I become a saintly figure to the common public as well as the savior of humanity after the Great Cataclysm.

Reality Of Raffles I

Raffles Smith, popularly known as Raffles I, was an elderly individual with a bald head, a mustache, and a white cloak wrapped around his body. While the character is revered for great things, in reality, Raffles Smith was killed and absorbed by Yona, a being from Adolla and an Evangelistโ€™s servant. Yona, after taking the identity of Raffles I, took control of his group and started manipulating the society to fulfill the Evangelistโ€™s goals. Yona carried out various misdeeds as Raffles Smith. He preached Spontaneous Human Combustion to be Godโ€™s Will and slowly prepared the masses for another Cataclysm.

Raffles I Unknowingly Became A Villain

Raffles Smith did not possess any supernatural ability. He was a normal human being but had a little bit of charisma, which helped him gather a group of followers. Yona used charisma, adding a layer of control over others apart from the truth and faith set by Raffles. Which started as a philosophy and theology, and soon turned out to be a procedure for destruction. For years, Yona kept on fulfilling his duty as an Evangelistโ€™s servant. Unfortunately, when the reality was discovered, it not only took off the mask of Yonaโ€™s face but also tarnished Raffles Smithโ€™s name in the process.
