When I read the original work, I felt the characters’ breathing, the sound of their feet cutting through the wind, the sound of their feet running on the ground, their sweat, and their body temperature. It was my first experience of such a thing. More than anything, I was moved by the conflicts and delicate emotional nuances of each player, and I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I felt honored to be able to participate in the “100M” animated film, but at the same time, I also felt a tremendous amount of pressure.
It’s been 14 years since I last worked with Sometani-kun, and I was very happy. The Komiya that Sometani-kun played was exactly like Komiya. I hope that the sound, sweat, and body heat felt from the original work are conveyed in the film. Please look forward to it.
- Komiya: Shota Sometani
When I read Uoyutaka-sensei’s original work, I felt a sense of dynamism, as if I was cutting through the wind, as if I could hear the sound of the 100m sprint, which should be inaudible. I was attracted to the idea that if I could turn that into an animation, it would definitely be an interesting piece. Komiya has a human touch, as if he gets too carried away and loses track of his limits, which resonates with me personally. I took great care in my performance so that the audience would be able to take a breather without even realizing it.
