In June 2024, it was announced that Gachiakuta would receive an anime adaptation scheduled to be released in July 2025. Over the following few months, the anime remained in development, and with its release a few months away, Gachiakuta officially released the teaser, featuring several brilliantly animated scenes and the main cast. Gachiakuta was first serialized in February 2022, and by the end of 2024, it had 13 volumes.
The anime adaptation of Kei Urana’s magnum opus will be directed by Fumihiko Suganuma, with renowned animation studio Bones Film looking after the animation. Taku Iwasaki, famous for composing music for several anime like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Noragami, Black Butler, etc., is in charge of the anime’s music.
When Will Gachiakuta Anime Release?
Gachiakuta‘s anime will be released in July 2025, but the exact date has yet to be revealed. According to the official site, the anime will be broadcast on Sundays at 23:30 JST, the “Agaru Anime” slot. A combination of 28 CBC Television and TBS affiliates has earned the rights to broadcast the anime nationwide. Fans outside Asia can stream the anime on Crunchyroll, while Medialink has the series licensed in Southeast Asia.
What Is The Synopsis Of Gachiakuta?
Rudo is a young boy living with his foster father, Regto. Belonging to the slums, Rudo is full of hatred for the upper-class wealthy people. Being young, Rudo often ignored others’ warnings and explored the “Abyss,” a large hole where garbage and people are dumped. His biological father was also dumped there as he was charged with murder.
One day, Rudo returns home to find Regto is dead and charged with murder. He, too, was thrown into the “Abyss” and encountered monsters made from trash. However, instead of dying, he met Enjin, who revealed himself as a “Cleaner.” Out of rage and revenge, Rudo became a “Cleaner” to fight the trash monsters and make his way out of the “Abyss.”
Gachiakuta’s Main Cast Revealed
Gachiakuta teaser revealed the character voices for the first time. With that, the voice actors have been officially confirmed. Here is the list of main voice actors and their comments.
- Rudo Surebrec – Aoi Ichikawa
When I read the original work, I remember being very impressed by the character’s gaze and being immediately drawn in. Rudo is a boy with a tremendous explosion of angry energy, so much so that if you let your guard down, you might be shaken off. I will do my best to portray his bubbling anger clearly.
- Enjin – Katsuyuki Konishi
I’m super excited that Gachiakuta is being made into an anime!
