Gachiakuta Episode 9 saw Team Akuta and Team Eager venture into Canvas Town, the city of freedom and joy. Since they will be heading into a No Manโ€™s Land, Rudo needs a Full-Face mask to protect himself from the atrocities lying within that region. However, the Giver that makes the Full-Face requires time, and so to get something temporary, they decided to meet Gob from Canvas Town, who has the ability to cast protective barriers around living and non-living things alike.

It was during their travel, they found out that Gob had passed earlier that day, and he had chosen his successor before passing away. Interestingly, the fans were introduced to a generational Vital Instrument that can be inherited by others. After Gob, Remlin Tysark inherited the Vital Instrument.

Some Givers Inherit Abilities Instantly Through Generational Vital Instruments

In the words of Team Eagerโ€™s Tamsy Caines, โ€œThe Idea of passing on a Vital Instrument is a rare thing in itself.โ€ Without a doubt, it goes to show that even seasoned Givers are barely aware of such a phenomenon. However, it has been happening in Canvas Town for a long time. Gob, who is regarded as a spellcaster, passed on his Vital Instrument to Remlin Tysark after his death. Even he received the Vital Instrument in the same way.

In Gachiakuta, itโ€™s revealed that when an object holds a deep bond with a person, it can transform into a Vital Instrument. If someone with the potential to be a Giver, but not yet one, obtains it, they can awaken as a Giver. This is exactly what happened with Remlin Tysark. Remlin and Gob shared a sibling-like bond, with Gob guiding and training them. Recognizing Remlinโ€™s talent as an artist, Gob may have chosen them as his successor, allowing Remlin to inherit his Vital Instrument and awaken as a Giver instantly.

The passing of a Vital Instrument and becoming a Giver is also hinted at during the first episode of Gachiakuta. Regto giving the 3R gloves to Rudo does not confirm it, but there is a possibility that the former may have used them and knows the secret. As a result, he told Rudo to run away before he was murdered.

Rudo was not a Giver then, but after coming to the Ground, his Giver abilities emerged, showcasing that his abilities were also inherited. He even had a flashback of Regto in Gachiakuta Episode 9 when Tamsy was speaking about Givers inheriting Vital Instruments, which could signal some kind of connection. Likewise, other Watchman Series also lowkey resemble it, especially Zodyl Typhon, who became a Giver after wearing Mishra.

What Are The Abilities Of The Generational Vital Instrument Of Canvas Town?

The generational Vital Instrument inherited by Remlin Tysark is similar to a paintbrush with a cap. When its powers are activated, it turns into a larger brush, similar to the ones used to paint walls. Using it, the user can project their thoughts through painting. The Vital Instrument is mostly used for creating charms for the Cleaners to help them venture into the No Manโ€™s Land by creating a protective spell around them. It can also create invisible barriers that can be crossed only if certain conditions are fulfilled, or make a person less vulnerable. The abilities depend on what is going on in the Giverโ€™s mind and what they are asked of.
