Kaiju No. 8 always has an element of comedy in it, and currently, there is no hint of comedy since the final battle has reached its climax. The pace of the narrative slowly increases with the Meireki Era Monsters finally transforming into their true form, pushing the heroes toward defeat.

That being said, it turned out to be a great decision since it is crucial to give more sides a chance to showcase their abilities. Focusing on a single side often makes the plot predictive and boring. Even though the pace has significantly increased, Naoya Matsumoto is clever enough to slow down in between to let the matter soak into the readers so they can get a full grasp of the situation. Apart from the extreme gaps between the chapter’s release, Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 123 has laid the foundation for the story to get more exciting in the upcoming chapter.

Kikoru Shinomiya is also compatible with it and has been equipped with it since the beginning of the battle.
