Kaiju No. 8 is one of the most popular new-generation shonen anime. Before the anime, the manga had already crossed the 10 million mark in sales. Without a doubt, Naoya Matsumoto’s magnum opus has instilled its name as one of the best franchises in the last few years.
The new character trailer featured the protagonist with some crucial revelations, including a reminder of the theatrical release date of Kaiju No. 8’s spinoff, Hoshina’s Day Off.
Kaiju No. 8’s Latest Developments
Toho Animation’s official YouTube channel released Kafka Hibino’s character trailer on February 24, 2025. The trailer featured eight instances of Kafka, with the eight being a reference to Kaiju No. 8. However, the main information was revealed at the end of the trailer. The end featured the reminder of the official release date of Hoshina’s Day Off, which is a Kaiju No. 8 spinoff. The spinoff is scheduled to release on March 28, 2025. It was announced earlier through a trailer.The spinoff will be screened simultaneously with Kaiju No. 8 season one omnibus.
What Is the Plot Of Hoshina’s Day Off?
Hoshina’s Day Off revolves around the Vice Captain of the Third Division of the Defense Force in Kaiju No. 8. On a certain day, the Third Division members earn an off day after continuously training for days. However, training for so long has made Reno Ichikawa forget the meaning of an off day. He is uncertain about how to spend his off day, but when he sees Vice Captain Hoshina has something to do in his free time, Reno starts to follow him while taking Iharu Furuhashi with him.
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Will Return In 2025
The character trailer also revealed that Kaiju No. 8 season 2 will return in July 2025. Even though a specific date is yet to be announced, the fans are quite excited especially since it is one of the most talked about anime. Season 1 ended with Kafka Hibino earning the trust of Isao Shinomiya, the Director General of the Defense Force.
Kafka’s life will take a turn in season 2 when he will be allowed to use his Kaiju ability to save the citizens, with the only motive of eradicating Kaiju No. 9. As per the information revealed by Toho Animation, season 2 will be broadcast on TV Tokyo affiliates and few other broadcasters.
New Character Visuals Revealed
Apart from the character trailer, the official site of Kaiju No. 8 anime revealed new key visuals of a few of the characters. The character list includes Kikoru Shinomiya, Reno Ichikawa, Mina Ashiro, and Kafka Hibino. The character visuals are revealed ahead of the release of Kaiju No. 8 Spinoff, Hoshina’s Day Off, with the release date mentioned alongside each visual.
