Kaiju No. 8 dropped new chapter No. 110 with major updates hinting at the big boys’ fight. It is well known that previously, Kaiju No. 6 was known as the ‘King of Kaiju’ and was responsible for the death of one most powerful Captain of her times ‘Hikari Shinomiya‘ who is also the mother of ‘Kikoru Shinomiya’ and the wife of ‘Isao Shinomiya’. But after No. 6 got killed, Reno Ichikawa is the first wearer of a weapon made from the corpse of Kaiju No. 6. Currently Kaiju No. 9 holds the title of ‘Current King of Kaiju’ in the manga.

Even though No. 9 devoured Isao and Kaiju No. 2 corpse gaining his powers, and holding the power of multiple Kaijus (chapter 110). It is known that Kaiju No. 8’s base fortitude is the highest recorded (9.8) in the manga series making him a far greater threat than No. 9 with a fortitude level of 8.5. Yet, Kafka has not been able to face No.9 as he did at the beginning of the series.
Kaiju No. 8: Chapter 110 – Major Spoilers Ahead!

It can be argued that holding himself back made Kafka unable to reach his potential and reach his max power levels. Chapter No. 110 suggests that Kafka has a hidden ace up his sleeve that even Soshiro Hoshina, his armed combat mentor doesn’t know about. In the end, the writer hints at him releasing his inner demons (No.8) for a shorter duration. Kafka might have figured out a way during his training to set Kaiju No.8 free for a shorter duration just like Yuji Itadori’s ability to release Sukuna at his will for a short duration in the series Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami.
This development was also hinted back in the manga when Kafka asked Gen Narumi (Captain First Division), arguably the most powerful captain at the current time, to stop him if he goes out of control which is similar to his request to Kikoru in the series. Kafka from the start, has been a quick learner, be it at his figuring out his transformation at will in the beginning or learning about different Kaijus during his starting days in the third division.

We have seen Kaiju No.8 going on a rampage in the manga as well as in anime and his insane fight with Isao Shinomiya under the transformation. The killing intent of Kaiju No. 8 inside Kafka has been teased in the chapter and how he is ready to kill just like any other Kaiju. This also promises more action and twists in the series.
Kaiju No. 8: New Beginning?

However, this recent development might not be only good news for fans as it might give manga writer the ability to dispose of the fan-favorite protagonist at their will as seen in recent trends in mangas. It was already suggested in the manga that Kafka might not be able to turn back into a human if he maintains the transformation for too long and he has already maintained it for too long during his fight with No. 9.
It might be possible that Kafka couldn’t turn back into a human after defeating No. 9 and becoming the final and most terrifying boss of the series due to his unparalleled power. It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds in this direction, as well as Reno and Kikoru’s reactions to these developments, given that they have been close to Kafka from the start and have been saved by him multiple times.

Similarly, will Mina be ready to sacrifice her childhood friend, or will she find a way to save him? Although most of the Division members have promised to stop Kaiju No. 8 in the worst-case scenario, the bond between Kafka and the division members has only continued to grow throughout the series.
There also lies a similarity in the current situation to that with the original series ‘Naruto’ by Masashi Kishimoto on how Naruto managed to tame Kurama. Naruto in the series has also lost control of the beast and harmed his friends on some occasions but regained his consciousness. This could also be speculated to be the Baryon Mode of Kafka later in the series. Chapter No. 110 also teased the typical Naruto and Kurama pose. It will be interesting to see the fate of Kafka and friends from this point on.
If you have made it this far, do comment with your thoughts on recent developments in the series.
