Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Episode 4 delivered one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the anime. After Kafka Hibino overcame self-doubt and mental trauma, he transformed into Kaiju No. 8 and defeated the antagonist. With roars of victory within the Anti-Kaiju Defence Force, every member praised the new and strong Division 1 under Gen Narumi.
However, the victory was short-lived; Kaiju No. 9’s defeat was all a decoy, and its main body was inside the Defence Force Headquarters. After the revelation, the Director of the Defence Force, Isao Shinomiya, fought bravely against the monster, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Kaiju No. 9 absorbed Isao along with Numbers Weapon 2, evolving into a more potent form than imaginable.
Kaiju No. 9’s Geniuses Leaves The Defence Force Baffled
Kaiju No. 9’s decoy body engaged Division 1, while the main body metamorphosed into a human and worked at the headquarters. When the soldiers were at their weakest, having believed that the fight was over, he transformed into his main body and surprised everyone. With no way out, Isao Shinomiya orders everyone to vacate the place and takes on the antagonist. He puts on Numbers Weapon 2, but initially, he is overwhelmed by how much Kaiju No. 9 has grown.
The monsters brutalized him and tossed him around, until the Director decided to put his life on the line and absorbed an excessive amount of Kaiju No. 2 powers onto his body to eliminate the greater threat. Even though he managed to overpower Kaiju No. 9 with consecutive Kaiju No. 2’s energy blasts that destroyed Sapporo, it left him weakened and unable to move. It gave the antagonist enough time to regenerate, cover his exposed core, and absorb Isao Shinomiya along with Numbers Weapon 2, leading to the director’s death.
Kaiju No. 9’s Evolution Is Too Strong For Gen Narumi And Kaiju No. 8
Kaiju No. 9 is known to have the ability to fuse with others. In Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Episode 4, he fused with Isao Shinomiya, evolving into a form that easily defended against Gen Narumi and Kafka Hibino. Initially, the antagonist revealed a massive, black form and came prepared to counter all of Isao Shinomiya’s attacks. The monster evolves with every bit of knowledge, trying to protect itself from the protagonists. Likewise, when it absorbed Isao, it evolved into a greater form with wings.
When Gen Narumi tried to attack him with Numbers Weapon 1, the Kaiju remained unfazed. At the same time, Kaiju No. 8 tried to punch him, but Kaiju No. 9’s evolved form had created a defensive mechanism against it. The villain’s evolutions are not only used for attacks, but also for defences. Additionally, it does not consider anything as a loss; instead, it uses it to learn about others and evolve into a more potent form. With Numbers Weapon 2 under his spell, his current evolved form could potentially cause problems for the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defence Force.
