The anime movie, Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie – Walpurgisnacht: Rising by SHAFT has been delayed from its original winter 2024 release schedule to winter 2025 due to production-related circumstances. The anime movie is an official sequel to ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion’.
The Puella Magi Madoka Magicaย television anime was released in January 2011 and ran for 12 episodes. The compilation films Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 1: Beginnings and Movie Part 2: Eternal released in 2012 and Movie Part 3: Rebellion’ in 2013.
Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story received a TV anime adaptation and was released in January 2020. The second and third seasons were released in July 2021 and April 2022 respectively.
In addition to the upcoming movie, a brand-new game titled ‘Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra’ is set to release later this year. Earlier, the smartphone game launched in 2017 ended its service in Japan in July 2022 while the English version was shut down in 2020.

The anime movie is directed by Yukihiro Miyamoto, known for his work on the original ‘Madoka Magica series and Magia Record & Arakawa Under the Bridge’. The other staff members include the original creator, Magica Quartet, Akiyuki Simbo as Chief Director, Gen Urobuchi as the Scriptwriter, Ume Aoki as the original character Designer, Junichirล Taniguchi as the Animation Character Designer, Yuki Kajiura as Composer and Alternate Space Designer Gekidan Inu Curry.
Walpurgisnacht: Rising – Returning Cast
The original voice cast has also returned for the anime movie and includes, Aoi Yลซki as Madoka Kaname, Chiwa Saito as Homura Akemi, Kaori Mizuhashi as Mami Tomoe, Eri Kitamura as Sayaka Miki, Ai Nonaka as Kyลko Sakura, Kana Asumi as Nagisa Momoe, and Emiri Katล as Kyubey.
