A few weeks back, Rumiko Takahashi (manga author) announced the remake of Ranma 1/2 anime and new info to drop in a live broadcast on July 17th. The live stream revealed the returning and new cast members. In addition to the cast, ANO will be performing the opening theme song and Studio MAPPA is in charge of the production.
Ranma 1/2 Anime Remake Update
Ranma 1/2 anime remake is an adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s original manga published from Aug 5, 1987 to Feb 21, 1996. The manga has 407 chapters and is divided into 38 volumes. It was VIZ’s longest-running manga at the release of its final volume.
Previously, Ranma 1/2 Anime by Studio Deen was aired from Apr 15, 1989, to Sep 25, 1992, with 161 episodes spanning 24 minutes each. A live-action television adaptation has also been made for the series in 2011.
Ranma 1/2 Anime Remake Release Date & Time
Ranma 1/2 anime remake will officially broadcast on Nippon Television every Saturday from October 5, 2024, at 24:55 JST and will be available to stream on Netflix immediately after broadcast.
Ranma 1/2 Anime Remake Story
The story is about Ranma Saotome, a skilled martial artist, who met an accident and fell into a cursed spring while training in China. Since then, Ranma turns into a girl whenever splashed with cold water and turns back to a boy only when splashed with warm water, while his father, Genma turns into a Giant Panda.
To secure the fate of the dojo, Genma has already fixed Ranma’s marriage with one of Soun Tendou’s daughters. Akane, Tendou’s youngest daughter, who is also a skilled martial artist and known for hating men is engaged with Ranma. The story follows Ranma and Akane’s relationship, navigating through his curse and their engagement.
