For years, the Rocks Pirates were kept under the radar by Eiichiro Oda, but with One Piece in its Final Saga, the creator is finally revealing it slowly and steadily. Fans knew how legendary the crew was, especially since it had a few of the greatest pirates ever. However, the mangaka did not reveal their captain, Rocks D. Xebec, until recently. For a long time, people wondered who the individual was who managed to do the impossible task. Many even considered that creating such a legendary pirate crew was harder than finding the One Piece. However, with Rocks D. Xebec revealed, here is a list of all the crew members who considered their captain.
1. Rocks D. Xebec
For most of One Piece, Rocks D. Xebec remained an intriguing and mysterious character. The character was so strong that he was the captain of a crew that included the likes of Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaidou, and Gold Lion Shiki, among others. Before the Roger Pirates, his crew was considered to be the strongest. Rocks D. Xebec was so strong that it took an alliance between Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp to go up against him during the God Valley incident. Unfortunately, nothing much is known about his capabilities and feats except for the fact that he killed a Marine Admiral in Mariejois and is the father of Marshall D. Teach.
2. Edward “Whitebeard” Newgate
Edward Newgate, popularly known as Whitebeard, was the captain of the Whitebeard Pirates and a former member of the Rocks Pirates. He was considered to be the world’s strongest man and possessed the abilities of the Gura Gura no Mi, which granted him the ability to cause earthquakes at the mere movements of his hands. Whitebeard had a friendly rivalry with Gol D. Roger and was only second to him in bounty. Edward Newgate’s weapon was one of the 12 Supreme Grade Blades, known as Murakumogiri, resembling a gigantic naginata. Like Gol D. Roger, he had mastery over all types of Haki, making him one of the strongest characters in every aspect.
3. Charlotte “Big Mom” Linlin
Charlotte Linlin, known as Big Mom, is the captain of the Big Mom Pirates and a former crewmate of Rocks D. Xebec. She has mastery over all types of Haki and has the abilities of the Soru Soru no Mi. Big Mom is one of the most feared characters in One Piece, since she can manipulate people and extract their souls using her Devil Fruit.
She has two weapons, who possesses a fragment of her soul. These weapons are Napoleon, a cap that can turn into a sword, and Prometheus, a small sun-like creature. Big Mom dreams of a utopia where all races coexist, and as a result, she had 85 children, with different husbands, who belong to different races, creating a hybrid race.
4. Kaido
Kaido is known as the World’s Strongest Creature and is the captain of the Beast Pirates. When he was younger, he was a member of Rocks D. Xebec’s pirate crew. At that time, he did not possess the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, but had mastery over all types of Haki. The most interesting feature about Kaido is that he has been captured by the Marines multiple times, but they could never execute him. He even tried committing suicide but failed, for which he is also known as an individual who is “looking for a place to die.”
Kaido killed Kozuki Oden and forcefully took over Wano Country, with the help of Kurozumi Orochi. He is so strong that only an advanced form of Haki can hurt him, which is unknown to many. Like Big Mom and Whitebeard, he used to be one of the Four Emperors of the Seas.
5. Golden Lion Shiki
Golden Lion Shiki is the captain of the Golden Lion Pirates and the former crewmate of Rocks D. Xebec. During his time as a captain, Shiki’s fleet was the largest amongst all with 51 divisions. He has the ability to fly due to the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, and had two double-edged swords named Oto and Kogarashi.
Shiki was one of the fiercest warriors in One Piece, since he was a rival of Gol D. Roger and once went up against the team of Garp and Sengoku. He was the first person to break out of Impel Down by amputating his legs and getting freed from the Sea Prism stone shackles. After losing his legs, he put his two swords in their place, attaining an iconic look, alongside a wheel embedded in his skull.
6. Gloriosa
Gloriosa, popularly known as Elder Nyon, was the former Empress of Amazon Lily and a former member of the Rocks Pirates. Being a former Empress, she was quite strong and could use Haki like the rest of the Kuja Warriors. One of the reasons for Gloriosa leaving Amazon Lily to join the Rocks Pirates was to escape from the Love Sickness and the other being closer to the mysterious individual, on whom she had a crush. While nothing much is known about her, she currently serves as an advisor to Boa Hancock.
7. Streusen
Streusen is the co-founder of the Big Mom Pirates alongside Charlotte Linlin and currently acts as the executive chef of the Big Mom Pirates. Streusen first met Linlin when she was six years old and witnessed the incident with Mother Carmel and the orphanage children. He kept Linlin by his side while maintaining a certain distance. With his Kuku Kuku no Mi, he could make anything into a dish by plunging his sword into that object. Streusen has great sword skills, with leadership and guidance. He was a chef at a pirate crew before joining the Rocks Pirates with Big Mom.
8. Buckingham Stussy
Buckingham Stussy is the mother of the former Warlord, Edward Weevil, and the self-proclaimed lover of Whitebeard. She was on Rocks D. Xebec’s crew for more than a decade, and later was a part of the illegal science institute, MADS. MADS cloned her, and the clone is currently a part of CP0, having mastered Rokushiki. The only known weapon Stussy was ever shown wielding was a rifle.
9. Captain John
John was a greedy and loathsome character who also happened to be on Rocks D. Xebec’s ship. He had two swords on either side of his waist, and was always seen with drinking. After Rocks’ death, he started his crew and collected a large amount of treasury. Even though his feats remained unknown, everyone is aware of his treasures, and Bugg has always been on the hunt for his hidden treasure. Captain John was last seen during the Thriller Bark arc as a zombie soldier.
10. Gill Bastar
Gill Bastar is another member of the Rocks Pirates and is known for his incredible marksmanship. Before becoming a crew, he was known for killing multiple people in self-defense, which led him to get a high bounty. He wears a hat and sunglasses and was last seen as a zombie soldier during the Thriller Bark arc. Interestingly, Gill Bastar is the protagonist of Eiichiro Oda’s one-shot manga named Wanted!, which was released in 1992, when he was a high school senior.
11. Don Marlon
Don Marlon was a mafia member from the West who joined the Rocks Pirates after losing a Davy Crockett-style fight against the captain. Marlon’s looks are befitting of a mafia with a hat on his head, cigar in his mouth, and a suit on. The mafia boss is quite knowledgeable about history and likes to observe his surroundings more instead of getting lost in it. Don Marlon is speculated to be a strong individual, as Rocks D. Xebec sought him personally, especially due to his plan to conquer Hachinosu.
12. Ganzui
Ganzui is a pirate smuggler and became a member of D. Xebec’s crew after losing to him in a Davy Back Fight. He is a man with a large stature, a long beard, a ponytail, and he is seen wearing sunglasses. Ganzui’s personality is just the opposite of Don Marlon’s, as he is often seen having a jolly time with his crewmates. The smuggler is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the history of the Underworld. Rocks recruiting a man like Ganzui reveals that the latter is quite powerful.
13. Ochoku (Wang Zhi)
Ochoku is another victim of the Davy Back Fight, who had to join the Rocks Pirates. He is referred to as a ‘Pirate Guru’ and, after the God Valley incident, became the commodore of Hachinosu. Ochoku was also part of the Rocky Port Incident, when he was defeated by an unlikely alliance between Koby, Trafalgar Law, and Blackbeard, with the latter taking up his spot. Even though his abilities were never showcased, Blackbeard and Sengoku claimed him to be a powerful individual.
