Twin Engine shared a special preview of โ€œMononoke Movie: Karakasaโ€ showcasing action-packed visuals with a unique art style. The movie is set to hit theatres in Japan on 26th July 2024.

The film was set to release last year but got delayed due to the recasting of the main voice artist for the role of Medicine Seller. In the series, Medicine Seller was originally voiced by Takahiro Sakurai, but due to his alleged 10-year extra-marital affair, Hiroshi Kamiya was recast for the role.

Mononoke Movie: Karakasa Music Video

Last week, Twin Engine also released the “Mononoke Movie: Karakasaโ€ Theme Song โ€œLove Sickโ€ Animation Music Video by “Aina the End” (avex trax) on its official YouTube channel.

The first thing I thought when I saw “Mononoke: Karakasa the Movie” was how unique and wonderful the sense of color is. I was constantly amazed at the worldview that could be created with a sense of color that I had never experienced before.
I really love it.

The song this time has a Japanese feel to it, and it’s called “Love Sick,” which in Japanese translates to “sweet sickness.” It’s a song I took on myself, so I hope you enjoy listening to it.
I also sincerely hope that I can add a touch of glamour to “Mononoke: Karakasa the Movie.” I’m looking
forward to its release!

The Mononoke Movie: Karakasa is set in the Ooku, a special place where women are kept to give birth to the heir for the Emperor. The Ooku is an organization with its own rules. Asa (Tomoyo Kurosawa) and Kame (Aoi Yuki) are two new maids who enter the Ooku. Asa wants to advance her career, while Kame is looking for a place in Ooku. On the very first day, both took part in a ritual offering something important to them to ‘Omizu-Sama’ (worshiped in Ooku).

An incident triggers a bond between both, passion growing every night between them until they lose all their senses to the rattling umbrella sound. A tragic event occurs, and the medicine seller chases a Mononoke to the Ooku.
