A new Sakamoto Days Spin-off is on the way! As if fans could not get enough of Taro Sakamoto’s wild adventures in Yuto Suzuki’s modern classic, Shueisha has announced a spin-off of the show. The manga made its debut on Nov. 21, 2020, and is an ongoing series published on Shonen Jump. Titled Sakamoto Days: Assassin Blues, Renka Misaki will be the author of the upcoming novel series.
Expanding on the Sakamoto Days Spin-off: Assassin Blues
The publisher of Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days, Shueisha, recently announced a spin-off for the modern Shonen manga called Assassin Blues, or Korishiya Blues in Japanese. It was revealed that the series is making its debut on Dec. 4, 2024.
Renka Misaki, who took the mantle of writing the light novel Sakamoto Days: Koroshiya no Method, is the official author of the spin-off series. According to Suzuki, the Sakamoto Days Spin-off contains canon storylines that are not included in the original manga. The franchise has also introduced a popular spin-off manga titled – Sakamoto Holidays, written by Okawa Tetsu.
Speaking of canon storylines, here are the subplots for Sakamoto Days Assassin Blues
- Killer’s Hot Springs Trip: After a long time, the Sakamoto family visit a hot springs inn. However, Hana faces adversity as she cannot take a bath.
- The Seba Brothers’ Part-Time Job: This installation follows the Seba Brothers’ past, and their uninteresting job as crepe food truck workers.
- Sakamoto Co., Ltd. – Invoice of Betrayal: Shin and Akira working in an office, find out that one of their co-workers is involved in corruption.
- JCC Midnight Exploration: Exploring their student days, Ms. Satoda interrupts Sakamoto and his friends, as they sneak in for test questions.
- Shishiba and Osaragi’s Eating Tour: As Shishiba desires to have a meal alone, Osaragi tags along.

What is Sakamoto Days?
Sakamoto Days is about an ex-assassin Taro Sakamoto who turns his back on his past life as an assassin. Feared by his peers, Sakamoto was blinded by love and quickly left his job to pursue the life of an ordinary man. However, avoiding his dangerous past had a lot of inconveniences in his life.
Sakamoto’s enemies from the past come to haunt him as they believe he is still a threat, despite leaving his criminal life behind. As Taro is prohibited from killing, he is now forced to come up with creative ways to get rid of his adversaries. This, alongside the desire to protect his family and live a peaceful life, Sakamoto’s adventures take a new turn throughout the series.
The manga series has an upcoming anime adaptation scheduled for 2025.
