The opening theme of the upcoming TV Anime “Orb: On the Movements of the Earth” (Chi- Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite) will be performed by “Sakanaction“. This will be the band’s first-ever anime song, and itโs also special because their lead singer, Ichiro Yamaguchi, is returning to the band after a two-year break due to health issues.
The anime is an adaptation of “Orb: On the Movements of the Earth” (Chi- Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite) manga by Uoto (Story & Art). The manga was serialized in Shogakukan’s Seinen magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits from September 14, 2020, to April 18, 2022, covering 62 chapters compiled into 8 volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment licenses the English publication of the manga series.
The anime adaptation is produced by Studio ‘MADHOUSE’ and it is set to release in October this year. The anime adaptation was first announced on December 12, 2023, via a post on the Orb: On the Movements of the Earth‘s X account (formerly known as Twitter).
The manga “Orb: On the Movements of the Earth” (Chi- Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite) won the top prize at the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2022. That same year, it was also nominated for the 15th Manga Taisho Award and the 46th Kodansha Manga Awards in the General category. It was ranked second in the 2022 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list for male readers. The manga also won the Best Comic award at the 54th Seiun Awards in the year 2023.

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth (Chi- Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite) Plot
The story is set in 15th century Europe where heretics are burnt alive. Rafal goes to university at a young age and studies theology, the most important subject of that time. He is also a firm believer in Logic more than anything else which led him to believe in the idea that the Earth revolves around the Sun. This idea eventually leads to the Inquisition at the information of his foster father.
Ten years later, two members of the Watch Guild, Oczy and Gras find a hidden stone chest containing Rafal’s secrets about the universe. Do they dare change their fate by selling the heretical texts or will that lead them to the inquisition?
