The anime world is filled with strong characters, but not everyone of them worked their way up or went through multiple failures. These characters were born unmatched and possessed overwhelming strength that could even make the mightiest opponents look like children.
Yhwach from Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War or Saitama from One Punch Man could easily overpower the strongest individuals with ease. They possess unimaginable physical abilities along with extraordinary powers that make them unique. These characters redefine the meaning of strength and are overpowered in every sense. Here is a list of anime characters who possess limitless powers.
1. Saitama
- Anime: One Punch Man
Saitama’s strength knows no bounds, as he can finish off his enemies with a single punch. He possesses infinite physical prowess, unmatched speed, and reflexes that make people believe he is teleporting, and is virtually invulnerable to attacks. Even after taking the hardest blows, Saitama stands still like nothing has happened. Also, his powers are not stagnant and are constantly growing.
Saitama is a parody of typical Shounen protagonists, who instantly found himself at the top of the chain without ever working his way up. There is a comedic twist to his character as he achieved such a feat by doing 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10 km run for three years straight. The only downside to his unimaginable strength is that he’s gone bald!
2. Shigeo Kageyama
- Anime: Mob Psycho 100
Shigeo Kageyama, better known as Mob, was also created by the same creator as One Punch Man, ONE. Mob is considered a psychic genius since birth, and his powers surpass those of any other esper. He has telekinetic powers, can create psychic barriers for offensive and defensive purposes, can exorcise evil spirits, and manipulate spirit energy. However, the most interesting aspect of his powers is astral projection, where he can leave his physical body and interact with the spirit world.
When knocked unconscious, he releases destructive psychic attacks in his subconscious state. The same happens when he becomes emotionally unstable, which is why he needs to keep his emotions in check. Mob can reach a higher level than his 100% state, but the true extent of his powers remains unknown.
3. Yhwach

Yhwach is the leader of the Quincy, also known as the Father of the Quincy, who started the Quincy-Shinigami. Yhwach has a calm and composed personality, but deep down, he is manipulative and believes himself to be the ultimate ruler of the world. His abilities know no bounds, just like his ambition. His goal is to unify all the realms, but for that, he is willing to go down the path of annihilation and destruction. Apart from his immense spiritual pressure (Reiki) and Quincy abilities, he has other abilities that can make the strongest warriors bow before him.
Yhwach was born blind, deaf, dumb, and unable to move, but he radiated a fragment of the Soul King. Whenever someone touched him, they were healed, and when they died, Yhwach would inherit their power and knowledge, and over time, he became The Almighty. His Schrift allows him to see and manipulate all future possibilities. He can make his desired future come true, making him invulnerable to all attacks. He can gain the abilities of any character from whom he absorbed their powers. Lastly, Yhwach has a special ability called Auswahlen, which allows him to take powers from the weak, kill them, and then resurrect fallen Quincy as per his will.
4. Satoru Gojo
- Anime: Jujutsu Kaisen
Satoru Gojo is a teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High, and according to him, he is the “Honored One.” There are several reasons for him to believe it since he is the strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen and possesses two of the most overpowered abilities ever, Six Eyes and Infinity. Six Eyes grants him the ability to use Cursed Energy efficiently and without any fatigue, with unlimited perception of its flow, and Infinity allows him to manipulate space at an atomic level. Satoru Gojo has Domain Expansion, a metaphysical space that boosts his abilities, mastery over Cursed Energy, and limitless potential.
He can come back from the dead or grow a limb with his Reversed Cursed Technique. Satoru Gojo can create three limitless variants: Blue, Red, and Purple. In Blue, he creates a vacuum that violently attracts everything; Red is the opposite of Blue, with matter and enemies being violently repelled; Purple is created through the combination of Blue and Red, which is a devastating reality-erasing projectile.
5. Tetsuo Shima
- Anime: Akira
Tetsuo Shima remains one of the most overpowered characters in anime. Initially, he was a part of Kaneda’s Biker Gang, who was protected by Kaneda because of his hot-headed and resentful nature. Unfortunately, Tetsuo suffered a massive bike accident caused by an esper named Takashi. He was taken in by the Government, and when they performed experiments on him, it awakened his latent psychic powers, making him one of the most fearsome antagonists ever.
Through psychokinesis, he could control or destroy anything, from a small stone to large buildings. He could use telepathy, manipulate energy and matter to its atomic level, and fire strong psychic blasts. Tetsuo could also heal or mutate himself. At his peak, Tetsuo Shima could distort reality and space.

6. Meruem
- Anime: Hunter x Hunter
Hunter x Hunter’s Chimera Ant arc saw one of the greatest antagonists in Meruem. Not only was he a great character, but one of the most overpowered individuals ever. Meruem is the King of the Chimera and was destined to be the ruler of all species. Meruem had a utilitarian, arrogant, and cold personality, but over time, he became more humane. The reason behind Meruem being so strong was that he was a biological fusion of Nen users, humans, and the strongest animals. His speed, strength, durability, and reflexes were unmatched.
He is a tactical genius and can analyse his enemy’s strategies instantly. Even though he never learned Nen, Meruem mastered Nen principles just by observing others. Later, he absorbed powers from two of his generals, Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi, and gained the ability to create weapons from his body and split his body into smaller parts to cover more areas. Being a genius, Meruem could easily figure out a technique’s weakness upon first glance.
7. Frieren
- Anime: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
Frieren is an elf and has been alive for centuries. She is one of the strongest mages and played a crucial part in defeating the Demon King. Frieren has an aloof and quiet personality, which is mostly due to her long lifespan. However, it also proved to be fruitful for her since knowledge, experience, and magical study of thousands of years made her one of the most overpowered characters ever. Due to her mastery over spells, she can instantly analyse new magic and take effective measures against it.
Frieren knows innumerable spells, including the ones that have been forgotten by the modern generation. Offensive magic, defensive magic, barrier magic, and ancient magic, she knows every one of them. The elf has extreme mana control and can suppress her mana to the point that enemies cannot detect her.
8. Griffith
- Anime: Berserk
Griffith is not only one of the most overpowered anime characters, but also one of the most iconic antagonists ever. He was born in poverty, but with determination, he became the leader of a mercenary group named Band of Fawks. When his friend, Guts, leaves to follow his own path, Griffith is captured by the Kingdom’s authorities and tortured for a year. It broke him physically and mentally, causing him to use a demonic artifact to trigger Eclipse, sacrifice the Band of Hawks, and be reborn as Femto, a member of the God Hand.
As Femto, he possessed God-like powers, including supernatural abilities, influence over causality, and near immortality. From reality manipulation to flight and special distortion, Femto could do everything. He had the ability to corrupt people and draw them within his path, making him one of the most hated characters ever.
9. Zeno (The Omni King)
- Anime: Dragon Ball Super
Zeno is the supreme ruler of the entire universe in the Dragon Ball franchise. He has a childlike appearance with a small stature, round head, and blue and purple body. He has an innocent and playful personality, but it does not stop him from erasing universes casually. Zeno can erase anything from existence, be it people, heavenly bodies, timelines, or universes; nothing is impossible for him.
When Zeno uses his powers, even the Super Dragon Balls cannot bring them back into existence. He once erased 6 universes because he was angry, leading to only 12 universes remaining. Even Gods of Destruction like Beerus and Champa are quite afraid of the Omni-King.
10. Sung Jinwoo
- Anime: Solo Leveling
In a world filled with powerful people called Hunters, Sung Jinwoo began as the weakest of all, an E-Rank Hunter. The Hunters go on raids when portals open up, and these portals contain powerful magical beasts. However, after suffering from a traumatic experience on one of the raids, Sung Jinwoo finds himself with a strange system that only he can access. He is given some daily tasks, and upon completion, he gets rewards. The System grants him limitless powers, and with each battle, he comes out stronger than he was before.
Unknown to him, he ended up with the abilities of the Shadow Monarchs, which allow him to control an army of undead soldiers or extract the shadow of individuals at will. Sung Jinwoo identifies himself as a mage, but he excels in every quality, and none of the Hunters, even internationally, are able to stop him. His shadow soldiers are powerful enough to defeat S-Rank Hunters with ease. Sung Jinwoo is a nightmare for his enemies and a protective guardian for his close ones. Likewise, no one wants to be on his bad books, and for those who are, they all suffer the same fate – become a part of his Shadow Army.
