According to the World Government, Roger Pirates are the most infamous pirate crew in One Piece. They not only conquered the Grand Line, but their captain also inspired a generation of pirates. The Roger Pirates had some of the strongest individuals in the anime, who could challenge anyone in their prime. Surprisingly, the crew had only one Devil Fruit user, Buggy, who was just an apprentice and consumed it much later.
It just goes to show how much the crew relied on Haki alone and their mastery over it. With the One Piece SBS 112 scheduled to release on July 4, 2025, fans were treated to some leaks online before its official release. Eiichiro Oda was asked to reveal Scopper Gabanโs role on the Roger Pirates, and he answered by revealing multiple membersโ roles. Here is a list featuring all the mentioned roles of the individuals among the Roger Pirates.
SPOILERS AHEAD!
1. Gol D. Roger
- Role: Captain

Gol D. Roger is the King of Pirates in One Piece and potentially inspired thousands of individuals to leave their peaceful lives and become pirates. One Piece introduced him in the first episode, and it is fair to say that the 1100+ are somewhat his contribution. He is one of the strongest characters in One Piece and, to date, has the highest bounty.
Gol D. Roger had mastery over all types of Haki, including the Conquerorโs Haki and a legendary Meito grade sword called Ace. People started calling him Gold Roger after he did the impossible, which is to reach the last island, Laughtale. He used to spar regularly with Whitebeard and Monkey D. Garp, who were considered his rivals. The King of Pirates was the original owner of the Straw Hat and passed it on to Shanks, who later gave it to Monkey D. Luffy.
2. Silvers Rayleigh
- Role: First Mate

Silvers Rayleigh, popular as the Dark King, is the first member that Gol D. Roger recruited in his crew. Like his captain, he too was one of the strongest characters in the anime, and could go toe-to-toe with anyone. Rayleigh can use all types of Haki and is familiar with their advanced forms, also. The first mate of the Roger Pirates is so fearless that he used to swim the Calm Belt, which was full of Sea Monsters, without any protection.
Even in his 70s, he was able to fight Admiral Kizaru and trained Monkey D. Luffy for two years to make him potent and withstand the harshness of the Red Line. After the disbandment of the Roger Pirates, Dark King Silvers Rayleigh married former Amazon Lily leader, Shakuyaku, and opened a small bar on the Sabaody Archipelago.
3. Scopper Gaban
- Role: Navigator

Scopper Gaban, also known as the Mountain Eater, is another member of the monster trio of the Roger Pirates. Like his two fellow monster crewmates, Gaban also possesses all types of Haki and uses two axes as weapons. His skills and abilities are second to none and can clear armies without much difficulty. His control over his Conquerorโs Haki allowed him to counter the immortality factor of the Godโs Knights and injure them, even though he is no longer in his prime. Like Rayleigh, Gaban also settled down after the Roger Piratesโ disbandment. He married a giantess named Ripley and had a son named Colon.
4. Moon Isaac Jr.
- Role: Tactical Officer

Moon Isaac Jr. is one of the crucial members of the Roger Pirates. While not much is known about him, he used to carry a rapier. His position as the tactical officer implies that he was a mastermind at devising strategies for fighting or defending. Moon Isaac Jr. can be recognized by his long, pointed nose. Even though he was on the Pirate Kingโs ship, he was quite weak to compliments, as he was shown to get easily flustered by them.
5. Crocus
- Role: Doctor

Other than Shanks, Crocus was one of the members of Gol D. Rogerโs ship who was introduced earlier in One Piece. Even though he was only there for three years before the crewโs disbandment, Crocus played a crucial role in helping Gol D. Roger become the King of Pirates. When Roger became terminally ill, only Crocus could halt the progression of his disease. It gave him time to conquer the Grand Line and earn worldwide fame. According to Rayleigh, Crocus was one of the best doctors in the world because of his medical knowledge. After the crewโs disbandment, he went back to the Twin Cape Lighthouse, where he looked after Laboon.
6. Donquino
- Role: Helmsman

Nothing much is known about Donquino, except the fact that he was a large man with a big belly, wore a captainโs hat, and had a smoking pipe on. He had a jolly personality and was considered to be strong since he was on Gol D. Rogerโs crew. Donquino is pretty talented as a helmsman as he guided the ship, Oro Jackson, through several perilous journeys in the New World.
7. Millet Pine
- Role: Torturer (Interrogator)

Millet Pine was excellent at gathering information from different subjects. His methods were forceful, and for that reason, he was regarded as a torturer within the crew. Millet Pine had a distinct look with a large beard, a helmet, had two horns, with the right one broken from the middle. He uses a spiked spear mace as his weapon.
8. Rowing
- Role: Scholar

A short, rotund man with a jagged mouth, Rowing, was one of the members on the Oro Jackson. He was one of the most knowledgeable and scholarly individuals on the ship and acted as its archaeologist. Unfortunately, nothing more is known about him or his whereabouts.
9. Erio
- Role: Informant

Erio is another crewmate of Roger, of whom very little is known. However, he is quite good at gathering information through his range of contacts, with most of them acting as information brokers. Erio has long blue hair, a moustache, and wears a white hat.
10. Spencer
- Role: Intelligence Officer

Spencer is one of the strongest fighters in Gol D. Rogerโs crew and traveled with him to God Valley to fight the Rocks Pirates. His analytical and assessment skills make him a highly skilled member, and his position as an intelligence officer showcases his importance. He can be recognized by orange-red hair, with a ponytail, who wears a long coat and dark colored trousers.
11. Petermoo
- Role: Gunner

Petermoo was the marksman of the Roger Pirates and specialized in long-range weaponry. He used his skill to support his crew and attack the enemies. Petermoo is a man of short stature who dresses as an old generation European Noble, with curly blonde hair, a black hat, and a suit. His choice of weapon was a rifle. It is speculated that he had Observation Haki, considering he was a marksman.
12. Jacksonbanner
- Role: Musician

Jacksonbanner is a tall man with short, curly, and blonde hair that hides his eyes. He wears a black shirt and brownish-yellow pants, with a sword on his right side. Jacksonbanner, being the musician, kept his crewmates entertained with his musical talent, just like Brook from the Straw Hat Pirates.
13. Bluemarine
- Position: Shipwright

Being the shipwright, Bluemarine had one of the hardest jobs in the world. The short and old man had to make sure that the Oro Jackson was in perfect shape for sailing. Due to his efforts, the Roger Pirates could sail through the New World, face the storms, and safely reach Laughtale.
- Apprentices: Shanks, Buggy, Inuarashi, Nekomamushi
- Companions: Kouzuki Momonosuke, Kouzuki Hiyori
There are others members on the Roger Pirates, whose roles have not been revealed yet. They are as follows:
- Sunbell
- Seagull Guns Nozdon
