All Seven Warlords in One Piece and the Forgotten Pirate Hanafuda

There were three great powers in One Piece – the Yonko, Marine Headquarters, and the Seven Warlords of the Sea. The Yonko are based on Pirates, the Marine Headquarters functions under the World Government, and the Seven Warlords are somewhere between them. The system incorporates a few pirates as an extended part of the Marines and works under a contract. To become a Warlord, a pirate needs to do or achieve something that is beneficial to the World Government. However, the situation changed, and the Seven Warlord System was revoked. Till now, there have been multiple Pirates who became Warlords. Here is a list mentioning all the pirates who earned the Warlord title in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece.

1. Dracule Mihawk

Dracule Mihawk, popularly known as Hawk-Eye Mihawk, is regarded as the Strongest Swordsman in the World. He is the first Warlord to be introduced in the anime officially. Before becoming a Warlord, Mihawk used to be a Marine Hunter and had an epic rivalry with Red-Hair Shanks. Without a doubt, he is one of the strongest individuals in One Piece, possessing one of the 12 Supreme Grade Blades, Yoru, and has mastery over Armament Haki. His unnamed attacks are powerful enough to cause massive destruction.

Mihawk resides on Kuraigana Island and ventures the seas with a coffin-shaped raft called Hitsugibune. After the dissolution of the Seven Warlords System, Mihawk became a part of the Cross Guild, along with Buggy and Sir Crocodile. Seraphim S-Hawk is made from his DNA, combining with Lunarian traits.

2. Bartholomew Kuma

Bartholomew Kuma belonged to the Buccaneer race and spent most of his childhood as a slave. After getting freed during the God Valley Incident, he went to live in Sorbet Kingdom and later joined the Revolutionary Army. Unfortunately, he willingly handed himself over to the World Government to conduct experiments on him in exchange for Dr. Vegapunk curing Jewelry Bonney’s Sapphire Scale disease. Kuma was made into an all-powerful cyborg called Pacifista and became one of the Seven Warlords. With whatever little memory he had of his past, he tried to put it to use before becoming a mindless robot.

Based on him, several different versions of Pacifista have been created. One of the seraphim, S-Bear, is based on him. Kuma possessed the abilities of the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi and knew Haki.

3. Boa Hancock

Boa Hancock, also known as the Snake Princess, is the Queen of Amazon Lily, an island where only female warriors reside. She is the leader of the Kuja Pirates and consumed the Mero Mero no Mi. Hancock can use all types of Haki, including Conqueror’s Haki. Even though she hates men, she is head-over-heels for Monkey D. Luffy and uncontrollably blushes around him. Even when she was a Warlord of the Sea, she used to go up against the Marines and help Luffy escape from them. She is one of the strongest female characters in One Piece and can easily defeat an army of Marine soldiers without breaking a sweat. Through Boa Hancock’s DNA, Dr. Vegapunk created Seraphim S-Snake.

4. Buggy

• Anime Debut: Episode 4

Apart from Monkey D. Luffy and Marshall D. Teach, Buggy is another such character whose growth in One Piece has been exponential. During his younger days, he was a member of the Roger Pirates, along with Shanks. Later, he started a crew of his own but was humiliated by Luffy on multiple occasions. However, each time he was humiliated, it turned out to be in his favor as he gained something unimaginable in return. Following this pattern, he became a Warlord of the Sea after the Summit War.

Buggy has always dressed like a clown and has a greedy nature. He is always looking for treasure maps to discover wealth. Buggy accidentally ate the Bara Bara no Mi, which allows him to split and reassemble his body parts at will. After losing his Warlord title, Buggy became the captain of the Cross Guild and became a Yonko.

5. Edward Weevil

Edward Weevil is the son of Buckingham Stussy, one of the former members of the Rocks Pirates. He claims to be the son of Edward Newgate, a.k.a Whitebeard, while his mother claims to be his lover. Weevil is quite strong and has a weapon similar to Murakumogiri. He has a long mustache, similar to Whitebeard, and long blonde hair. The former Warlord can use Observation and Armament Haki and is known to have defeated multiple members of the Whitebeard Pirates and Marines alike. Edward Weevil is pretty violent and only listens to his mother.

6. Sir Crocodile

• Anime Debut: Episode 76
• Last Known Bounty: 1965000000 Berries

Sir Crocodile is a former Warlord of the Sea and the leader of the Baroque Works, who used to go by Mr. 0. He has the abilities of the Suna Suna no Mi, which makes him a sand-man. Crocodile was the main antagonist of the Alabasta Arc and lost his Warlord title after his defeat at the hands of Monkey D. Luffy. He is one of the strongest individuals in the anime and can hold his ground against potent fighters.

The character can be recognized with a long stitch mark across his face and a hook on his left hand. Crocodile was imprisoned in Impel Down after the Alabasta Arc but was released by Luffy to aid him during the Summit War. Later, he joined the Cross Guild under Yonko Buggy. There is an unnamed Seraphim based on Sir Crocodile.

7. Gecko Moria

Gecko Moria was another former Warlord who captained the Thriller Bark Pirates. He was the main antagonist during the Thriller Bark Arc and possessed the Kage Kage no Mi. As a young pirate, Moria clashed with Kaido and lost after days of fighting with him. His Devil Fruit allows him to extract the shadows of other people and put them in others.

During the Thriller Bark Arc, it was shown that he extracted the souls of several potent fighters, including Ryuma, Captain John, Luffy, etc. He is one of the Warlords whose title was revoked before the dissolution of the system. Gecko Moria was last seen on Hachinosu when he went to avenge his crewmate Absalom. Dr. Vegapunk also created a Seraphim based on Moria.

8. Donquixote Doflamingo

Donquixote Doflamingo is one of the greatest antagonists in One Piece, who also happens to be a former Warlord. He is the captain of the Donquixote Pirates and a former Celestial Dragon. Doflamingo is also one of the strongest characters in One Piece, possessing all types of Haki and an awakened Ito Ito no Mi. Using his evil and cunning methods, he took over the Dressrosa Kingdom and ruled it until the Straw Hats arrived.

Donquixote Doflamingo is a blonde person with red sunglasses and a pink feather-like coat. He was imprisoned after his defeat at the hands of Monkey D. Luffy, and his status has remained the same since. Like Gecko Moria and Sir Crocodile, there is also a Seraphim based on Doflamingo.

9. Trafalgar D. Water Law

Trafalgar D. Water Law is the captain of the Heart Pirates, who was also associated with the Donquixote Pirates. He is one of the Supernovas and can use Observation and Armament Haki, and has the Ope Ope no Mi. Law is given the nickname of Surgeon of Death since his Devil Fruit grants him the ability to disfigure his enemies, change souls, extract a part of their body, etc.

He became a Warlord after he presented the World Government with 100 Pirate Hearts. After his Warlord title was revoked, he formed a temporary alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates, and later Kid Pirates, to defeat Kaido and Big Mom. He was last seen fighting Blackbeard and had to be saved by Bepo.

10. Hanafuda

Hanafuda is one of the former Warlords who was never shown in the anime. Known as the King of Lizards, Hanafuda was the father of Page One and Ulti and was associated with the Beast Pirates. Unfortunately, he lost his Warlord title after losing to Portgas D. Ace. Later, when he was going to reunite with his children, he was murdered by his rivals. Hanafuda was quite faithful to the Kaido and brought them the ancient Zoan Devil Fruits to further strengthen the crew.

11. Jinbe

• Anime Debut: Episode 430

Jinbe is a fishman who was a former member and captain of the Sun Pirates. He is known as the Knight of the Sea and specializes in Fishman Karate. He is one of the two individuals who willingly resigned from his Warlord post to aid the Whitebeard Pirates during the Summit War. Jinbe is quite strong, having a strong grasp of Armament Haki. After Whitebeard’s death, he was associated with the Big Mom Pirates. However, when Monkey D. Luffy offered him a place on the Thousand Sunny, he happily accepted it. Currently, Jinbe is the helmsman of the Straw Hat Pirates and has the third-highest bounty among the crew. S-Shark is based on Jinbe.

12. Marshall D. Teach (Blackbeard)

Marshall D. Teach was a former member of the Whitebeard Pirates, but after murdering the Fourth Commander, Thatch, and taking the Yami Yami no Mi for himself, he started calling himself Blackbeard and started a pirate crew under that name. When Portgas D. Ace came after him to avenge Thatch, Blackbeard defeated him and handed him over to the World Government. It earned him the title of a Warlord.

Blackbeard is one of the most intelligent, cunning, and evil individuals in One Piece. He used his Warlord title to fulfill his motives of creating a strong pirate crew. During the Summit War, he stole Whitebeard’s Devil Fruit abilities and became the only individual to possess two Devil Fruit abilities. Currently, he is one of the Yonko, with Hachinosu as the base of his operations.
