The Summer Hikaru Died is the eeriest anime, released in the Summer of 2025, exploring supernatural beings with a side of horror. With each episode, new revelations are taking place about Yoshiki and Hikaru’s hometown. Since Hikaru Indo’s coming back from the mountains, impurities have started to take place throughout the village. For that reason, Tanaka arrived to investigate the situation on behalf of his company. Tanaka appears to be familiar with the area and a few elderly individuals as well. However, the details surrounding the company he works for are vague, even though he was sent there by them.
What Does Tanaka’s Company Deal With?
With next to no information about Tanaka’s mysterious company, it is believed that it deals with supernatural beings. They sent their representatives to individuals where supernatural things or occult practices are taking place, similar to Tanaka arriving in Kubitachi. Tanaka has been with the company for years, highlighting that the company is not new. There is an individual named Satou, to whom Tanaka reports, showcasing a hierarchy within the company.
The company is also known to stop the construction of the compact city in Kubitachi, preserving the village. It is a shady organization whose whereabouts remain unknown, but it is shown to be considerably powerful both economically and spiritually. Even though it deals with supernatural things, every representative needs to send interim reports of whether or not they discovered any abnormalities during their investigations.
During one such investigation, Tanaka lost his ability to see, and the company provided him with a pair of glasses that allowed him to see. Also, Tanaka possesses a hamster with a human child’s spirit that helps him in locating abnormalities. It shows that the company is readily involved with abnormalities and makes a living out of it.
Villagers Remain Skeptical of Tanaka’s Company
The shady nature of Tanaka’s company has led to the birth of pessimistic thoughts about it among the villagers. They started to believe that it had a hand in creating the impurities and bringing in misfortune and death, leading to the worsening of the village. According to Kurebayashi, the company is a morally corrupt organization keeping tabs on the village and influencing certain events. Also, she believes that the company has some kind of link to the Indo curse hitting the village all of a sudden.
