The Boy and the Heron Film Coming to Indian Theatres on May 10

PVR Cinemas announced that Hayao Miyazaki’s first feature film in 10 years, The Boy and the Heron, will be released in Indian theatres on May 10. The highly anticipated anime film will be released in Japanese language with English subtitles and an English dub.

Encore Films, a Singapore-based film distribution company, announced earlier this year that it will bring the film ‘The Boy and the Heron’ to India. As far as OTT release is confirmed, Netflix partnered with GKIDS and Goodfellas to release Studio Ghibli films outside the US and Japan.

Earlier this year, The Boy and the Heron won several awards for Best Animated Feature Film. Some of the awards are:
1. 96th Academy Awards (OSCARS)
2. 77th British Academy Film Award (BAFTA)
3. 81st Golden Globe Award
4. 51st Annie Award

The Boy and the Heron story

After losing his mother during the war, young Mahito moves to his familyโ€™s estate in the countryside. There, a series of mysterious events led him to a secluded and ancient tower, home to a mischievous gray heron. When Mahitoโ€™s new stepmother disappears, he follows the gray heron into the tower and enters a fantastic world shared by the living and the dead. As he embarks on an epic journey with the heron as his guide, Mahito must uncover the secrets of this world and the truth about himself.
