The monarchial setting in the Kingdom of Alneath in the first few minutes showcases the dominating demeanor of Demon Lord Veltol. In a tough battle against Gram The Hero, Veltol suffers a brutal loss. Being immortal, he was bound to be revived on another timeline. Sure enough, his trustee Machina, resuscitates him 500 years after the fact.
Knowing that the world has taken a huge turn as opposed to the time when he ruled, Demon Lord Veltol desires to take his spot back. The year is 2099, wars caused 90 percent of the population to be eradicated. This current world is the aftermath of several conflicts between the planet Earth and the Kingdom of Alneath.
Machina does not seem comfortable in revealing who Marcus, the blood magician is. After encountering a hacker girl, who hacks into the public advertising flatscreens, a curious Veltol asks the whereabouts of said Marcus. Unfortunately, she guides him to the path.
Familia, the modern magic methods seem to be taxing on Veltol, as he is not familiar with it. Marcus appears to have hatred toward the Demon Lord and throws him off the high-storey building. Machina eventually finds the king and takes him into her home, which is a small apartment.
